Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

I am a ssa recipient and have not received my stimulus…. And I cannot retrieve my identity theft pin so the non filers tool keeps rejecting it… How can I retrieve my pin if theirs no live agents and the IRS building is closed and online it keeps telling me that I have the wrong address … Which is also false it’s been 6 years since I’ve filed before I became identity theft I know the address very well but it says the information doesn’t match I don’t know what to do here in this situation

Hi Debra, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.

You will get a direct express stimulus deposit on your card, the people who must enter information who have that card, ONLY need to enter information in order to receive the $500 deposit for their children. If you do not have children under 17, you do NOT have to worry, your deposit is coming. If you DO HAVE CHILDREN, your deposit IS COMING. but if YOU do NOT file for YOUR CHJILDREN, you LIKELY will NOT receive the extra $500 for YOUR CHILDREN.

I am single, retired, and 72 years old with diabetes, heart trouble, and arthritis and high medical bills. Social Security is my only income. I thought seniors such as myself who have retired and not filed taxes in 3 years would be among the early recipients of the stimulus. How much longer do we have to wait.

    • Repona

      6 weeks

      • Jess

You are such a great guy Pete. I am happy to report that the irs website finally worked for me, and says my payment is to be deposited to my bank account on April 29th. I bet yours is probably saying the same. It’s been really nice chatting with you! Hopefully there will be more checks soon, and we will meet up again!

        Jess

  8. Roth A.

I have not received the economic impact payment..hav SSA Ssi.. how do get more information..

    • patricia

Just be patient. Some have gotten them earlier than the dates reflected the payments to us on SSI/SSD was not supposed to go out until the 30th to early May you will get yours soon if you have a direct express card or direct deposit. If you do not get your payments by either of those ways then you will be waiting for a paper check to come in the mail. just be patient

  9. Carol

My neighbors on SSA got CARES checks yesterday. I, who am on SSDI did not. I am so confused as to why no one can determine if deposits will be made on to a Direct Express debit card for those who do not have a bank account and who only have Direct Express debit cards? (SSA set us up. Direct express debit cards) Still waiting weeks later to have. This question answered.

    • Patricia

you will get yours I don’t know what order they are going in as far as payments go but everyone of ssi/ssd will get their stimulus payment in the manner they get their regular ss checks. These payments will start going out in fact some have already started getting them earlier than the April 30th start date just be patient

  10. Samuel

Still have not received my check.have the SS direct deposit card don’t get but 400 a month.that is all.know a lot of people who get a little more not much.and none of them have received it yet.we all have the same card from SS.i don’t think we will get any.

    • peter

Oh we will , its only a matter of time soon real soon,. rest assured its coming

    • Marin m.

Haven’t gotten mine either. Live up here in Maine. This is an Absolute joke! BTW, you SHOULD be getting at least $750.00 a month. Should look into it. Seriously.

      • Jason L.

To get 750 a month they will need to say hes paying rent and utilities. To get the increase.

    • Patricia

SS recipients will start getting theirs anywhere between the 30th of April to the 2nd week of May. Be patient they have a lot of stimulus payments to put out
