All I want to do is replace my Social Security Card, can’t figure out what you are telling me to do
V.V.
Hi Susan, thank you for your question. First, realize you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing your Social Security number is what is important. However, if you must get a replacement card, you may be able to apply online. Check out our Frequently Asked Questions web page for details on how to apply for a replacement Social Security card. If you are unable to apply online and you do not want to mail in your documents, which will be returned, you may need to wait for the offices to reopen. You can also call your local office and see if they will mail you an SSN printout instead of a replacement Social Security card. We are unable to process replacement Social Security card requests by phone at this time. Use our Social Security Office Locator to find your local office address. We hope this helps.

Need a replacement social security card not online through mail
Rinton D.
We loss my daughter SSN
A.C.
Hi, Rinton. Thanks for your comment. Generally, when applying for a replacement Social Security card for a child under the age of 18, we consider the parent(s) or step-parent with custody, as the proper applicant. Remember that knowing her number is what is important. You will rarely need to show her card, but if you need information on how to obtain a replacement Social Security card, visit our Frequently Asked Questions. You will need to present documents proving your identity, your daughter’s identity and citizenship status (if not already established), and evidence of your relationship to, or responsibility for, your child. Keep in mind the submitted documents must be originals. You can use birth certificates to prove your children’s age or citizenship; however, you cannot use it as proof of identity. We hope this helps.

The Website keeps telling me that it is EASY to get a replacement SSN card online ( in California ) and directs me to log in to “My Social Security” account…. which promptly tells me…”We’re sorry, You cannot request a Replacement SSN Card online.” Both my wife and I have the EXACT same issue. Which is it… can you or can’t you? My wife called, as we really need something that proves her SSN, in order to get a California “Real-ID” and was told she will have to fill out the form and mail it in, along with her passport, or her CA Drivers license and she might get those back in about 2 to 4 weeks…. What is going ON?
This is the height of stupidity.

Your website for requesting a replacement card does not work. I have set up an account and tried requesting more than once. It repeatedly says not available at this time or information does not match. I have checked the information and there is no reason why it should not match. Not a workable website. Will be forced to visit the office as I do not trust sending in original documents.

When requesting a replacement social security card drivers license is a requirement as proof. If I can’t go into a local social security office do I have to mail my original drivers license card with my request to replace my social security card?
