I tried to set up an account and get the message “We cannot create an account for the social security number you entered” and “for further assistance please contact us.” with a button to select. The button doesn’t work. What do I need to do to get this sorted?

I need my wife statement for tax purposes. She died June 2, 2017.

    • R.F.

We’re sorry to hear about the loss of your wife, Richard. In certain cases, we may disclose SSA-1099 information from the record of a deceased person, only to a survivor of the deceased and only if we are able to establish the relationship of the survivor to the deceased based on SSA records.
You will need to go into the local Social Security office with proper identification and supporting documents to make a request for a replacement SSA-1099. We hope this information helps.
