Update on Social Security Offices

Earlier this week, The White House issued national guidance regarding Opening Up America Again. We are evaluating this information as it relates to our agency and are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation across the nation. In fulfilling Social Security’s mission, when we reopen offices to the public, we will provide a safe environment for both the people we serve and our employees.
As we continue to develop our plans, our offices will remain closed to the public for face-to-face service, and our employees will continue to work remotely and provide services to the public. We will provide updates moving forward and post updated information on the status of our offices, by state, at our website. Our agency will provide these updates directly, and please disregard other sources of information regarding the status of our offices.
We will continue to provide the vital service the public relies on. Please visit our website for more information about our services during the pandemic.

The people writing to this blog are the most ungrateful, entitled bunch of whinebags and it’s not the Veterans or retired Seniors replying in this way either. The, “low income are getting overlooked” victim stance doesn’t work during a pandemic because the working people are needed to keep society afloat so the rest of you can kick back with Riley scamming the system. Does it make sense to anyone else that the people who do actual work for their money (job) might be a little higher on the totem pole than the rest of you prescription pushing , lazy human sponges? **Reality check; without the working class to collect taxes from, you lazy slobs wouldn’t be getting your benefits(handouts).. And who exactly are you to judge anyone I’m on Social Security disability because I want to with a working-class American and because of ignorance and the stupidity of another I now have my spine fused and can no longer work does not make me less of a citizen does that make me less of an American I am not lazy nor have I ever been I understand where you’re coming from on some points I get it but you judge all of us the same as in Moreland wrong it’s bad enough that I went from a hell of a paycheck too little to nothing but you never wrote this post besides being a real asshole you might want to get all your facts straight before running your mouth about people you have no idea about

excuse me i worked for years im not no scum because im disabled now. How dare you judge people. Everybody has a story. You may never have been down on your luck before but that gives you know right to bash people you don’t know. Trust me being on disability is no peice of cake. Its not something to be ashamed of either. I get pennies to live off. I can’t afford an apartment on my own. I have to stand in line at a food bank now. I don’t get enough for my meds and am having to choose which ones to take because i can’t afford my diabetes meds. So no don’t you dare judge me. Its no handout. If anything its a horrible way to live.

I put my application in for starting social security benefits they asked to send birth certificate in. Want to make sure they get it and most office is closed. If I send to my local will someone be checking mail? Can’t get through to no one on the line. Thank you Cindy

Since the local DMV has opened back up, when can we expect SS local offices to open up? I need to apply for a name change and do not wish to send precious documents through the mail. I expect that SS can open as well. Our country needs to get back to as much normal as possible for the good of all.

I am a representative payee and my person did not get her stimulus either. Not sure where to go to find out where it is. “Get my payment” just says “no information available”.

I want to start federal tax deductions from my SS payment. I can only start this by mailing my deduction form to my local office in Nevada. The problem is that the office is still closed due to the Corona Virus issue. Mailing my completed form will not do anything until the office opens again.
Please help me get info on when I can get help!

Why can’t anyone at SS reinstate my Medicare Part B as promised back in December 2019? Everyone says be patient. Here it is May and we are in the mist of pandemic and SS agents can’t figure out why this hasn’t been done.

I am a US permanent resident , I began receiving my social security benefit as a survivor in 2019. My husband is a US citizen he died in 2018. As the SSA’s condition I could not stay outside the united states longer than six months in order to continue receiving my monthly payment from SSA . Due to a Covid-19 pandemic early this year which is still continuing, it is very difficult for me to schedule my trip back to the states at this time. I suppose to be present in the states by end of May to avoid suspending my monthly benefit. Therefore, I would like to know If there is any possibly considering about this case from SSA .Thanks
