We would like to talk to someone about the status of our daughter’s social security card but the main number and local number are not giving us a chance to talk to anyone. We are on hold for 20 minutes at a time and then it hangs up on us. Are the local offices open to walk in now or just appointments only? And how might we make an appointment if we can’t get a hold of anyone over the phone?

    • V.V.

Hi Deana, we are sorry to hear about your experience with Social Security. Please call your local Social Security office. Look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. Please be aware that our call wait times are longer than normal. We hope this information helps.

Hi. I sent in documents to change my name back to my maiden name and it didn’t happen. I sent my husband’s death Certificate and have used my maiden name with my married name. All they had to do is drop the married name. Why didn’t they do that?

Unfortunately, some representatives at local field offices do not know that you can now enroll in Medicare Part B online. I was working with someone who had submitted their application online and called her local office to check on the status. They told her that it was impossible to enroll online (not true) and then started to argue with her when she explained that she had. They then became belligerent. Unacceptable.

So ive have seen all the extra corona benefits fot the extra tax credits and more! But what about us that receive ssdi ssi va benefits and railroad benefits are we not good enough to get extra benefits like every else on a federal benefits programs. I think its very unfair and i feel segregated from everyone else.

    Why not us as well???..
We are people to and we need help just as well as anyone else? Are we considered less than others? We need help too.

Please resond back, and please do not answer with the ssa and irs do not know or do not have an answer. We are American people just the same as people receiving extra benefits. Why is the we are suffering just as everyone else are. We need besides familes with children. The majority of us need just as much help if not more. Help with rent medical needs, and food assistance. Please we are American people the not want but need extra benefits just like everyone else. Please help us.

    • V.V.

Hi Nicholas, thank you for using our blog. The IRS, not Social Security, sends all economic impact payments. Unfortunately, our telephone representatives and social media team cannot answer your specific situation about payments. You can find the latest information available from the IRS website. If you don’t see the answer to your question, you can call the IRS’ payment hotline at 1-800-919-9835. Thanks!
