At the Social Security Administration (SSA), our mission is to provide you with the best possible service, whether you call us, visit a field office, or manage your benefits online. We are always listening to your feedback and the suggestions of our dedicated employees to find new ways to improve your experience.

Listening and Acting on Employee Feedback

Since his confirmation, Commissioner Bisignano has been visiting field offices across the country, meeting with staff and hearing firsthand about the opportunities they see while serving the public. For example, during a visit to our Staten Island, New York office this week with Congresswoman Malliotakis, the Commissioner spent time discussing how technology and process enhancements have improved the office’s ability to serve customers both by phone and in person.

During another visit on August 1 to our New Brunswick, New Jersey field office, employees shared a specific challenge: sometimes, when answering calls from outside their office’s traditional service area, they were unable to fully assist a very small percentage of customers due to system constraints. We recognized that, to serve you better, we needed to ensure our employees had the tools to help every caller, no matter where they are located.

A Fast, Effective Solution

We took decisive and immediate action. Last night, we rolled out an important update to our key workload processing systems. These updates now allow our employees to meet your needs, regardless of which office you call or where your case is located. This means that when you reach out to us by phone, you can expect even more consistent and complete service, no matter who answers your call or which office they work in. This rapid response under Commissioner Bisignano’s leadership is just one example of how we are working to transform SSA into a digital-first agency that puts your needs first. We are committed to making it easier for you to get the help you need.

Why doesn’t the Social Security Administration have a regional office in each state? I live in Ohio and the regional office is in Chicago IL.. Knowing that Chicago is so messed up with their local and state government. The individual states can do better than a office that has no idea what they are doing, My local SSA Office does a better job than Chicago. Can we please go to individual states having a regional office in each state?

WHEN will the site be updated to move the bar to find out your benefits on a monthly basis instead of each January. As a person that is working beyond retirement age to achieve 8% increase to delay, it would be encouraging to see a monthly amount available. Thank you so much cleaning up and clearing out so much fraud and waste! We should never have to fear for our future survival when our generation were hard workers and worked long years bc we saw the retirement age pushed away like a carrot on a stick! At 67, I’m hoping to hold off until August 2028 to get the max return! 36 mos to go!

Thank you for taking initiative to improve the system. It has only been months in the works since the last administration. Technology improvements will surely add efficiency, reduce wait times and mishandling. Please keep on schedule to complete the project on time and to address any punch list issues that would satisfy all user types, especially the less technical and less educated.

The current regime (with a convicted felon at the helm) just needs to stop firing people and harvesting personal data for their buddies in the private sector to sell. I believe nothing if it dribbles from Trump’s disgusting piehole or any who support him after he attempted a violent coup on 06 Jan 2021.

I hope there is some truth in this, since folks out here do desperately need help on the phone. But it’s hard to believe you, especially since you sent that email a while back that tried to make us think seniors would no longer have to pay tax on Social Security income.

Maybe if so many Social Security workers had not been laid off– right when masses of Boomers are retiring– it wouldn’t be so hard to help every caller. I wonder if the guy who did such sterling work helping me on the phone after my husband died still has his job.

My clients turning 65 and applying for Medicare are spending 2+ hours on the phone to get their calls answered, if the call does not disconnected first. When is this unbearably HUGE problem going to be fixed?

So you are joining the 21st century what we need is more money and definitely faster processing of disability cases you people make whatever we call in for complicated to take care of. With technology it should not take weeks or months to be handled

I’m disappointed! At 70 years old, after having thought I was going to be receiving my social security benefits, I’ve now been told even after visiting the Denver office and on the phone “Due to staffing cuts, we’ve no idea when your benefits will start”.

This is unsatisfactory and now I’ve had to get Rep Diana DeGette’s office involved! WHY?

Gregory, you will hv max benefits and can even ask for back pay from any delay. Ask abt the ‘lump sum’ you could opt for! You’d get all 3 years in one check if you need a lit of money right now. Call an elder attorney and hv them sue that office and fire the person that flat out lied! No one can hold back benefits. If you apply 3 mos. prior ONLINE at ssa.gov you can start your payments.

@Rand. Your are comments are the false ones. Noone mentions holding back benefits, there is a delay because of the Trump/republicans nonsense of slashing SSA of humans so that the republican privatization nonsense can be sold. Trump and those crazy enough to support that convicted felon are wrecking SSA intentionally by cutting and firing personnel. That is why there is a delay.

You are confused or worse. There is no three years back nonsense as you write. The OP is just applying for benefits to start at 70 as he stated. After the delay that Trump and his toadies caused SSA will pay for those months delayed, without having to be asked. Technology does not fix firing humans, unless the humans being fired are republicans nutters, e.g., all MAGAT republicanss.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that there are not enough Starr to answer the phones and help seniors get their benefits. While they wait, people are loosing their homes because SS is the only money they have coming in monthly to pay their bills. This is going to be a train wreck of a problem going forward. Shame on the government that they can pay bonuses to the managers, but can’t get people the benefits owed to them.

Previously when I opened my social security account it needs my user name & my pass word. But now when I opened my account it asked me email & password. When I inserted it says wrong. I tried to open another account. But the systems advised me not to open. So how do I contact the office.

Daniel, they changed the login to be either via iD.me or login.gov. You hv to sign up on one of those two sites to gain access. It will ASK YOU TO UPLOAD a gov id like your driver license! Then the sign in is always easy. I chose login.gov bc I already had done that for my job. Hope ya get this message.

      Hi,
I did not get my proof of life form. I got the form online to send it in. I was going to send it tomorrow, but maybe I should wait. It would suck not to get paid. I did a fraud year’s ago, so I always have problem ever year trying to log in my social security.

I don’t know who you frauded but I was charged with a fraud I had no knowledge of whatsoever. I can’t get it removed from my record without paying for a lawyer I can’t afford either. Sucks!

Hi Krystal, I think he meant ‘had’ a his ssa hacked. But in your case, there is FREE legal help for someone needing it. Try to look online in your area for senior legal help! It will be worth your time to clear something on your record if it affects your existence.
