We’re sorry to hear about the loss of your father, Sharon. In certain cases, we may disclose SSA-1099 information from the record of a deceased person, only to a survivor of the deceased and only if we are able to establish the relationship of the survivor to the deceased based on SSA records.
You will need to go into the local Social Security office with proper identification and supporting documents to make a request for a replacement SSA-1099.
      We hope this information helps!

My husband and I added our daughter’s name to our checking account. We were told by the bank that we had to open a new checking account which we did.
Everything remained the same, except the account numbers on the new checking account. Presently, our Social Security is deposited directly in our checking account, how do I make these changes with SS to change the bank account numbers on our SS direct deposit. Do I send a VOID new check or what?

    • R.F.

Hello Patricia, if you and your husband already receive benefits and have a new bank account, you can -each- update your direct deposit information by using your personal my Social Security account. Thanks!

    • V.V.

Hi John, thank you for your question. Medicare will automatically mail your new card to the address you have on file with Social Security. As long as your address is up to date, there’s nothing you need to do. If you need to update your address, you can use your personal my Social Security account.

Mailing millions of Medicare cards takes some time, so you might get your card at a different time than friends or neighbors in your area.

Visit Medicare.gov/NewCard and sign up to get email alerts from Medicare. Medicare will send you an email when cards start mailing in your state.

Please be cautious about posting personal information on social media channels. Thanks!
