Well, I drove to the office. And of course the scanner code does not work, what a surprise. The office doesn’t open till 9 AM, which is kind of interesting since most places in the world opened at 8 Am. And trying to call on the phone is an absolute ridiculous nightmare because one, there’s no phone number for the local office, and to no one seems to answer the other one.

I have been on the phone forever trying to make an appt with my local ss office. Finally someone answered a half hour later from a different office. After arguing with that person for another half hour I got nowhere. I want to talk to someone in person to help me. I’m trying to make an appt. ahead of time since I have a drive to get there. I do not want to drive 30 minutes or longer to turned away. Please help me……

And how do we work with them when one there’s no phone number to call them to they never seem to have the office open. And three you can’t do everything online because my particular problem can’t be done online and they keep sending me to the local office, which I can’t get in.

Can I make an appointment to have my 9 month old baby obtain a SSN?
I have already filled out the application on line.
I would prefer to have a scheduled appointment when I bring in the required original documents to my Norristown PA local office. Can I obtain this new SSN for my son if I go as a “walk-in”?

Hi, Jane. Thanks for visiting our blog. Generally, appointments are not needed to apply for Social Security cards. Most offices do offer walk-in appointments; however, these appointments are on a first come, first serve basis. To find your local office information, please visit here. We hope this helps.
