    Poorly designed site and search. How do I get a replacement card for a minor?? Why is that so hard to find out on this site?
    Seriously, I’d love for someone who works at the SSA to ask there non-SSA employed spouse to find this out. How long did it take (assuming they can find it all?

    My husband has lost his social security card and we need to show it at the office here at Calvary Homes.
    How do we go about getting him another one?

    Jean

    • R.F.

      Hello Jean, we prefer a government issued document with your picture, as proof of identity to replace your Social Security card. If your husband does not have one or cannot get one within a reasonable amount of time, we may be able to use other documents such as:
      •Employee identification card;
      •School identification card;
      •Health insurance card; or
      •U.S. military identification card.
      Any document he submits, must be an original or certified copy, current (not expired) and show his name, and other identifying information (date of birth or age).
      Some individuals may be eligible to apply for a replacement Social Security card online. To learn more on the process and what documents your husband will need to get a card, please visit our “Social Security Number and Card” web page.
      We hope this helps!

    My granddaughter needs a new card to get a job. She turned 16 in March of this year and she cannot set up an account because she is not 18. What does she need to do to get one?

    • R.F.

      Hi Janet, we prefer a government issued document with your picture, as proof of identity to replace your Social Security card. In your granddaughter’s case, we may be able to use other documents such as her school identification card or a health insurance card.
      Any document she submits with her application, must be an original or certified copy, current (not expired) and show her name and other identifying information (date of birth or age).
