At Social Security, protecting your personal information is more important than ever. We continue to evaluate and improve our robust cyber-security program to safeguard your information. The thing is, we can’t do it alone. You can help us secure your information by taking one of these steps:

  • Open your personal my Social Security account. A my Social Security  account is your gateway to many of our online services. Create your account today and take away the risk of someone else trying to create one in your name, even if they obtain your Social Security number.
  • If you already have a my Social Security  account, but haven’t signed in lately, take a moment to log in. We’ll send a one-time security code to your cell phone or to your email address each time you sign in with your username and password. The security code is part of our enhanced security feature to protect your personal information. Keep in mind that your cell phone provider’s text message and data rates may apply. If you suspect identity theft, report it to our Office of the Inspector General.
  • If you know your Social Security information has been compromised, and you don’t want to do business with us online, you can contact us to block any automated telephone and electronic access to your Social Security record. No one, including you, will be able to see or change your personal information on the internet or through our automated telephone service. If you block access to your record and then change your mind in the future, you can contact us and ask us to unblock it after you prove your identity. This resource is available to certain victims of domestic violence or identity theft and those who need extra security.

We will continue to do our part to protect what’s important to you. And we’ll continue to advise you on how to protect yourself.

American in China ,how I can creat a SS acount because when i fill in state, the list have not China or Asia

    • R.F.

We apologize for any inconvenience, Chester. At this time you must have a U. S. mailing address to create or to access your online account. The “my Social Security” authentication system requires address verification as one of the essential criteria for issuing an account. People with APO/FPO/DPO addresses can create an account overseas, but our system does not support registration and account creation for users with a foreign address yet.
Please contact your local U.S. embassy or consulate for any assistance related to your Social Security benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad. We hope this information helps!

Hi. My mother died in October. I am the executor for her estate and must file her taxes. But I have no data regarding her social security income. How can get a copy of her ssa 1099?

    Thank you.

    • R.F.

We’re sorry to hear of your loss, Richard. In certain cases, we may disclose SSA-1099 information from the record of a deceased person, only to a survivor of the deceased (or the executor) and only if we are able to establish the relationship of the survivor to the deceased based on SSA records. You will need to go into the local Social Security office with proper identification and supporting documents to make a request for a replacement SSA-1099. We hope this information helps.

Dion Lamy sells weed, cocaine beer and he was in prison for gang rape, he has a job at a barber shop, isn’t it against the law for him to work with kids if he was a sex offender? Him and Donovan Neha both did a gang rape on a five year old girl, this isn’t the first or last time both have done gang activities related to rape, Donovan Neha was also involved in selling bootleg liquor, weed and cocaine yet they both still get away with crimes.
