I cannot believe you lock out an account for 24 hours. How is this helping me when I need info now. This is a terrible policy. Everywhere else, including my bank account has alternatives for getting into my accounts. This needs to be reconsidered immediately.

If I was able to work for 5 years with social security payments and I am now 62 yrs old, may I apply for retirement benefits, pls?
A.C.
Hi, Antonio. Thanks for your question. Generally, you will need to have 40 credits, or 10 years of work paying Social Security taxes, to qualify for any type of Social Security benefit. In addition, to qualify for disability benefits, you generally need to have worked for five out of the last 10 years before you became disabled. The rules are different for younger workers who become disabled or die. For a complete explanation of credits needed for the different types of benefits, visit our Benefits Planner: Social Security Credits. We hope this helps.

Hello,
I am trying to continue an application I began in Nov,2018 for my fiance. I do not have my re-entry or account code to get back to the application. How can I get this to finish the application ASAP?
A.C.
Hi, J. For your fiance’s security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. We ask that members in our Blog community work with our offices with specific questions. Your fiance can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, there will be a shorter wait if your fiance calls later in the day. I completed and submitted an application for Retirement Benefits on 4/22/19 but when I log onto My Social Security I do not see it there. Is there a delay between when application is submitted and when it shows up in my account?

Me too! did you find out if there is a delay?
