man on computer We are constantly expanding our online services to give you freedom and control when doing business with us. Our new online cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) notices are another example of our commitment in this area.

Later this year, we will post the Social Security COLA notices online for retirement, survivors, and disability beneficiaries with a personal my Social Security account. The announcement of the COLA amount will occur in October, but final benefit amounts won’t be calculated and available until December, when we mail COLA notices that contain the benefit amount for the next calendar year.

These COLA notices will now be available to view and save via the online Message Center inside my Social Security. The Message Center is a secure, convenient portal where you can receive sensitive communications we don’t send through email or text.

This year, individuals will still receive COLA notices by mail. In the future, they will be able to choose whether they receive their notice online instead of on paper.

Online notices will not be available to representative payees, individuals with foreign mailing addresses, or those who pay higher Medicare premiums due to their income. We plan to expand the availability of COLA notices to additional online customers in the future.

Remember, our services are always free of charge. No government agency or reputable company will solicit your personal information by email or request advanced fees for services in the form of wire transfers or gift cards. Avoid falling victim to fraudulent internet “phishing” schemes by not revealing personal information, selecting malicious links, or opening malicious attachments. You can learn more about the ways we protect your investment, personal information, and my Social Security account here.

Social Security’s online services make it easy to have the best experience possible by putting you in control of your time. Sign up for or log in to your personal my Social Security account today and choose email or text under “Message Center Preferences” to receive courtesy notifications so you won’t miss your electronic COLA notice!

    Greetings:

I would like the electronic COLA notice for 2019. I am a property manager for a HUD subsidized property and would benefit from that notice as to how the COLA increase for 2019 will impact residents. I would like to be on the e-mail list without the “my Social Security.”

So how much of a increase will I get next year I get now$ 1139.00 to live on. Now I have all these Californians moving to AZ. buying up all the property and raising all the price for rent, what I use to pay for$400 a month has now doubled like we’re living in California, I don’t make that kind of money

We are retired American citizens living in Thailand. Because we live in Thailand we are not allowed to create a mySocialSecurity account. We believe this is unfair and discriminatory, but who can we complain to? Only the agency doing the discriminating! How unAmerican this is.

You all have made it impossible for me to use the website with constantly changing the password; every time I need to access a password I must close the browser and get the new password from my email. When I do that the password you sent no longer works and I am back at the starting gate. Leave it to the government…

Please send all communication by USPS. I have no computer or printer. I tried using a tablet but account was locked out. Waited 2 days. Still locked out. Called. Wait time more than 1 1/2 hours. Person on phone no help at all.

You send an email saying get your COLA info electronically, but then it seems the only way to get it is by signing in your SS account.

Why can SS not just send an email to those who have signed up for such notices saying the COLA adjustment for this year will be x.xx%. Certainly that % is no national secret.

Hi there. Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for more than 67 million Americans will increase 2.8 percent in 2019.

In December 2018, Social Security COLA notices will be available online and you will receive the notice in the mail telling you how much your benefit will be after the 2.8% increase.

In the future you will be able to choose whether you receive your notice online instead of on paper.

Overall, very interesting information at ones fingertips. I am a layman so most of it goes over my head. It’s still a great format for communications between us. I found out that the COLA increase is not calculated until December.
Notices are then sent out with that information given on the SSA form. Best
