woman looking on phoneThe Acting Inspector General of Social Security, Gale Stallworth Stone, is warning citizens about an ongoing Office of the Inspector General (OIG) impersonation scheme.  The OIG has recently received reports from citizens about suspicious phone calls claiming to be from the Acting Inspector General.

The reports indicate the caller identifies as “Gale Stone” and states the person’s Social Security number (SSN) is at risk of being deactivated or deleted.  The caller then asks the person to call a provided phone number to resolve the issue.  Citizens should be aware that the scheme’s details may vary; however, citizens should avoid engaging with the caller or calling the number provided, as the caller might attempt to acquire personal information.

The Acting Inspector General urges citizens to be cautious, and to avoid providing information such as your SSN or bank account numbers to unknown persons over the phone or internet unless you are certain of who is receiving it.  If you receive a suspicious call from someone alleging to be the Acting Inspector General or from the OIG, you should report that information to the OIG at 1-800-269-0271 or online via https://oig.ssa.gov/report.

It is irritating that my remarks don’t post. Perhaps they can’t stand the truth.

I am so grateful for your warnings. I even sent a link in a text to this info to my sister. Keep them coming. Too bad we don’t have a phone number to see when the scammers call but I realize they can use another number. Thanks.

Good morning, it’s now 7:15 am NZ time, my two son’s and I has been here in NZ ages ago and my US Soc. Sec. Card was stolen and until now, it’s not yet recovered and we are the “ORIGINAL SURVIVOR” from the US ARMY MAN- and we have his “DEATH CERT.” since the USVA wrote us that they will re-instate our benefit due to the “DEATH” of my ex-husband and until now we don’t know who took my Card. But I have here the very old USVA Card/ DD214/ my Naturalization/the receipt of my US Passport , and my son’s US passport. We don’t know who claim all supposed to have since he died April 1, 2001 and my pension was stop. I did not get married to anyone, since then. I have no Divorce paper and even then according to the gentleman whom I read on his email, that my benefits must be re-instated and I have the form to be usbmitted for my claim. We are still here in NZ w/my eldest sister Elena Dulay Berg (deceased) who sponsored us to come in NZ. even it’s long time, I am still asking for Justice because we are the “ORIGINAL” since 1981 when I got married in USA. Please let me know if there is Justice on my stolen card and citizenship. I don’t know why? I am not married to anyone even partner, I don’t get involved since I got wrong one. Thank you for email. “GOD BLESS US All”

I’ve seen many variations of this post before. It is so rambling that it seems its only purpose is to clog up the blog. Remember that personal problems can’t be addressed on this site.
