Protecting your information is an important part of Social Security’s mission. You work hard and make a conscious effort to save and plan for retirement. Unfortunately, fraud and scams are a part of our current reality. Scammers try to stay a step ahead of us, but our cyber-security programs help us protect the information entrusted to us. Despite the techniques we use to thwart scams, we can’t do it alone. You can read Social Security’s joint press release with the Office of Inspector General about our new nationwide Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign. This new PSA campaign addresses these telephone impersonation schemes in a series of video and audio ads. Watch the video above and learn how you can help us protect your information.

Also, earlier this month, we teamed up with the Federal Trade Commission for a Facebook Live event to discuss more consumer protection tips. If you missed this very important session, you can find it on our Facebook page.

I would simply like to report receiving a fraudulent social security telephone call from (254) 653-6459. The resources above require provision of personal social security information and/or filing an identity theft report.

I have reported numerous phone numbers to the FCC and SS administration and still they keep coming. Every 30 minutes from North Carolina. Seriously, what in the hell is the point of reporting this unless the government cracks down and stops allowing the sale of thousands of phone numbers to telemarketers? Like putting the cart before the horse. You ask for our help and do nothing to stop this BS. The Do Not Call registry? It’s a flipping joke. In many countries, it’s *ILLEGAL* to telemarket. You are only encouraging frustrated people to take the law into their own hands to deal with this unending crap.

Received a call from 917 740 7950 which my wireless company identified as potential scam. The voice message left said that my SSN has been suspended for inappropriate usage and I must click 1. I immediately signed into my SS account and did not find any messages but all these comments.
