10 days of trying to create an account DOES NOT WORK! Your sites SUCK It asks questions and tells me the answers are wrong??? Like it says I do not know my own mother’s MIDDLE NAME? It tells me I do not know my own first car? I do not know my own first pet? I do not know my own birth place?

I am trying to create an online account but my current address is in Canada. What is the work around? I have been living in Canada for many years.

    • R.F.

Hello Janice. The “my Social Security” authentication system requires address verification as one of the essential criteria for issuing an account. People with APO/FPO/DPO addresses can create an account overseas, but our system does not support registration and account creation for users with a foreign address yet. Please contact the nearest Federal Benefit Unit or U.S. Embassy in your area for any assistance related to Social Security benefits. Thanks!

My social security card just has my middle and last name and not my first name. When I try to create an account I can not complete it. I recently moved, does it matter which address I use?

    • V.V.

Hi William: If your name is not correct on your Social Security card, you will not be able to create a my Social Security account until it’s corrected.

See our Frequently Asked Web Page on how to correct your name on Your Social Security card.

This is very good but how do
Inchsnge my existing bankaccount to another?
Ik cannot find information about this anywhere.

    • V.V.

Hi there. Thanks for the question. If you’re receiving Social Security benefits (retirement, survivors, or disability), you can start or update your direct deposit information by using your personal my Social Security account.

If receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or unable to conduct business online, you can start or update your direct deposit by contacting the bank, credit union, or savings and loan association or by calling Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).

See our Frequently Asked Questions web page for more information.

I’m trying to get into my account with no luck. I need a security code which I can’t seem to find how to get. If I try to create a new account it tells me I have one, yet I I don’t have a code to get into it . I am following the instructions from a letter I received from SS BUT the step that says I will be asked HOW to receive my code is not there. P.S. I DETEST your web sites!
