Get Your Social Security Benefit Statement (SSA-1099)

Tax season is approaching, and Social Security has made replacing your annual Benefit Statement even easier. The Benefit Statement is also known as the SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S. Now you can get a copy of your 1099 anytime and anywhere you want using our online services.
A Social Security 1099 is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits you received from Social Security in the previous year so you know how much Social Security income to report to the IRS on your tax return.
If you live in the United States and you need a replacement form SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, simply go online and request an instant, printable replacement form through your personal my Social Security account.
A replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S is available for the previous tax year after February 1.
If you already have a my Social Security account, you can log in to your online account to view and print your SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can save the document on your computer or laptop or even email it. If you don’t have a my Social Security account, creating one is very easy to do and usually takes less than 10 minutes.
If you receive benefits or have Medicare, your my Social Security account is also the best way to:
- Get your benefit verification letter;
- Check your benefit and payment information;
- Change your address and phone number;
- Change your direct deposit information;
- Request a replacement Medicare card; or
- Report your wages if you work and receive Social Security disability insurance or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
If you’re a noncitizen who lives outside of the United States and you received or repaid Social Security benefits last year, we will send you form SSA-1042S in the mail. The forms SSA-1099 and SSA-1042S are not available for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Hi, Sadie. The SSA-1099 is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you have not received your SSA-1099 in the mail, you can request a replacement SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Year 2019 by visiting your personal my Social Security account. We hope this helps.

If my child is a beneficiary and got 18 years old in december 27, 2019, when is she supposed to get the last check. The last one was dated november. Does she gets one check dated december or the one dated november was the last one?

If your daughter is age 18, but still a full-time student at a secondary (or elementary) school, her benefits will continue until she graduates or until two months after she turns age 19, whichever is first. Generally, we send her a form to verify her school attendance. If you have additional questions, she can contact her local Social Security office. She can also call our toll free number, 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) and ask to speak with one of our representatives, who are available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. She will generally have a shorter wait time if she calls later in the week. Hi, Amy. We are sorry to hear about your loss. The SSA-1099 is mailed to the last address in our records and is intended for the spouse or executor of the deceased. If you did not receive the benefit statement, the executor will need to go into the local Social Security office with proof of death and proof of executorship. An SSA-1099 can also be given to someone receiving benefits on the deceased beneficiary’s record such as a spouse, parent, or child of the deceased. Name is Steve Persaud and I have been defraud by SSA in amount of $17,867.00. SSA is Claiming I was overpaid from 11/2003 to 2016.
I provided proof of my SSA-1099 for year 2003 to 2007 showing total disability payments is $45,623.00 and before WC offset is $3,970.90 and after WC offset I was paid $ $41,623.00. For 2008 total benefit paid is $16,366 and WC offset is $3,970. and 2009 total benefit paid is $14,366 and WC offset is $1,254. for 2010 the total benefit paid is $13,116 and the WC offset is $123.00. for 2011 the total benefit paid is $13,116 and WC offset is 1,224.
Workers Compensation payments was suspended on 9/13/2011 due to appeal by WCB Decision.
SSA since 12/2018 is withholding my monthly checks on tell 3/2020.
Please tell SSA to stop defending me my Retirement benefits and Please stop injustice and please stop discrimination against people with disability

I never received a letter stating that I am my son’s rep payee. He is receiving SSI benefits. I need this to open a new bank account. I search all over the site and I cannot find a way to request the letter. This is very frustrating.
