The Social Security 1099 (SSA-1099) or Benefit Statement is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January. It shows the total amount of benefits you received from Social Security in the previous year, so you know how much Social Security income to report to the IRS on your tax return. Luckily, Social Security has you covered. If you live in the United States and you need a copy of your SSA-1099 or 1042S tax form, simply go online and get an instant, printable copy of your form with a my Social Security account.
A Social Security1042S (SSA-1042S) is for a noncitizen who lives outside the United States and received or repaid Social Security benefits last year.

Good afternoon,
I need to file my taxes for 2018. The form that I have is SSA-1099 Social security benefit statement. I need advise on how to file my taxes online. Also I am on disability. My email address tjcox229@outlook.com and my home address is 17051 Pryor lane, Montpelier, VA 23192. Also I received statements in 2015 stating that both of my children’s benefits were being stopped, because the SSA said I did not have the correct home address on the form that they sent to me at my home address. My daughter hadn’t graduated from high school when I received the statement and my son was in Middle school. A few months after I started receiving benefits for my children. This year before my son graduated from high school I received a letter in February when he was 17 years old. Each month when funds from the SSA are deposited into my bank account, I receive a notice that his benefits are pending. Please advise me about receiving his benefits again so I can set up a bank account for him and his benefits can be deposited back into his account? Thank you for attention to this subject.

Hi Francis. Some people have to pay federal income taxes on their Social Security benefits. This usually happens only if they have other substantial income (such as wages, self-employment, interest, dividends and other taxable income) that must be reported on your tax return, in addition to their Social Security benefits.
