Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, the Child Tax Credit was increased and expanded for 2021. Most families are eligible to receive the credit for their children. For families with qualifying children who did not turn 18 before the start of this year, the 2021 Child Tax Credit is worth $3,000 to $3,600 per child, depending on their age.

If you haven’t filed taxes for your family to claim your full 2021 Child Tax Credit, there’s still time. With only weeks remaining to file a tax return this year, families should file their taxes as soon as possible. The easiest and most secure way to claim the full credit amount is electronically. Go to www.ChildTaxCredit.gov/SSA for free resources to help you file to receive your 2021 Child Tax Credit and other important tax benefits – like the increased Earned Income Tax Credit.

Some families received part of their 2021 Child Tax Credit through monthly payments from July to December 2021. To receive the rest, you need to file a tax return. Other families who didn’t receive monthly payments – for example, because you welcomed a new child in 2021 – will receive their full 2021 Child Tax Credit by filing a tax return.

Remember: Families must file a tax return to receive the full Child Tax Credit. Information provided on www.ChildTaxCredit.gov/SSA can help, including for people who don’t usually need to file a tax return. Go to www.ChildTaxCredit.gov/SSA to see if you are eligible for the 2021 Child Tax Credit and for free resources to help you file for the credit.

Get the money your family deserves by filing for the credit right away.

If the BANK account has been closed,…how then would the check be obtained? unless it was sent to an address provided by You before the check was issued….It probably bounced back from the bank to the SSA.
