Get a Replacement Social Security Tax Form Online With Ease

It’s that time of year again. Preparing for tax season can seem overwhelming. Some forms and paperwork might be difficult to track down. If you misplaced your Benefits Statement or haven’t received it by the end of January, we’ve made it easy to go online to get a replacement with a personal my Social Security account.
An SSA-1099, also called a Benefit Statement, is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to the more than 60 million people who receive Social Security benefits. Can I get a replacement SSA 1099 for my husband. He died 06-09-2018. I have my statement, but need his to file my taxes. If I create my account on line will it allow me to get a copy of his 1099?

If you did not receive the benefit statement, the executor will need to go into the local Social Security office with proof of death and proof of executorship. An SSA-1099 can also be given to someone receiving benefits on the deceased beneficiary’s record such as a spouse, parent, or child of the deceased. I did not receive a SSA-1098 in the mail. I have set up a My Social Security Account. When I go to the Replacement Documents, there isn’t an option for getting a copy of my SSA-1098. Only a Request for a new Social Security Card is listed. Has anyone else had this problem?

•Call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. At the voice prompt, say “helpdesk”; or
•Contact your local Social Security office. Your local office can also assist with a replacement SSA-1099. We hope this is resolved soon.
