man and woman on laptop It’s that time of year again. Preparing for tax season can seem overwhelming. Some forms and paperwork might be difficult to track down. If you misplaced your Benefits Statement or haven’t received it by the end of January, we’ve made it easy to go online to get a replacement with a personal my Social Security account.

An SSA-1099, also called a Benefit Statement, is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to the more than 60 million people who receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits received from Social Security in the previous year so people know how much Social Security income to report to the IRS on their tax return.

For noncitizens who live outside of the United States and received or repaid Social Security benefits last year, we’ll send form SSA-1042S instead. The forms SSA-1099 and SSA-1042S are not available for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

If you currently live in the United States and need a replacement form SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, we have a way for you to get a replacement quickly and easily. Go online and get a replacement form with a personal my Social Security account.

Every worker in the United States should create a personal my Social Security account. The secure and personalized features of my Social Security are valuable tools to help Americans plan for retirement.

As mentioned before, mail is EXTREMELY slow going to Sihanoukville. Typically I receive the questionnaire in late February, so kindly cut me some slack since it WILL be rather late by the time you receive it.

Is it possible to fill out the form online? If a signature is required can you send me the form online or by email and I’ll see if I can print it out and perhaps fax it to you.

Cambodia can be rather primitive in terms of technology.

    Thank you,

    John Becker

If I understand the email I received today, I appears that you think I have visited this site earlier today…I have not! And, that concerns me because someone tried to hack one of my credit card accounts this past week. If you received a visit to my account today (02/01/2018) I would appreciate a contact verifying the activity.

I have paid Social Security since I was 17 (in The USAF) Have had an account most of the time since they were available. Paid until Retirement.
But I have forgotten my OLD EMAIL ADDRESS. Without it, I cannot reinstate and use my Social Security.
I have tried many times to log on and reinstate it, but am stopped by the system when I am unable to provide the OLD email address. Is there a solution short of visiting a Social Security Field Office?

I have not as yet received my tax form!

    • R.F.

Hi John, if you’re referring to the Form SSA-1099 showing the amount of benefits paid during last year and the amount of any voluntary Federal tax withheld, this form is mailed by January 31 each year. If for any reason you did not receive your SSA-1099 in the mail by that date, you can request a replacement by using your personal my Social Security account. Thanks!
