“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

You may want to visit IRS.gov
SS beneficiaries qualify for 1200 but won’t get money for our dependant children.

My husband and 15 year old daughter both recieve SSI. I am their payee and I don’t work so I don’t file taxes. How does that work?

If you’re reading what’s on the top it says that SSI SSD will be getting a simulis check and you don’t have to fill out anything read between the lines it’s common Sense people

  6. Brandi

SSI or SSDI beneficiaries who typically do not file a tax return will automatically get the $1,200 payment, unlike other workers who have to have a recent filing to get the stimulus payment.

I also get both and my wife receives welfare cash assistance.will she get acheck to and also my 3 kids? Will she get her own 1200 and me 1200 or 2400 for being married? That could be alotta money big it’s all separate as ssi just gave me a random deposit again for 140 a few months ago a few yrs ago she filed for ssi and I got a 360 check 2 yrs in a row when she refiled and ss office didn’t known why nor make me pay it back as they didn’t know what to do. Lol if history repeats itself I should be getting more than actually should be getting.lmao

I’m wondering what is the IRS doing about those individuals who receive both SSI and SSDI for disabilities will we only receive half the payment since the IRS doesn’t have access to the information for the people who receive SSI as well as SSDI because only half of my payment comes from the social security

Have they determined yet how much those individuals are going to get or if they’re going to get anything

Or will those individuals who get SSI and SSDI have to file a federal income tax just to receive the full amount
