“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

My 12 year old son gets SSI benefits but I only recieved the $1200 not the $500 for him. I did the non filers form when it first came out in April.

I checked IRS site daily up till April 18 and site said if you recieve direct deposit from disability you were not to use nonfilers link and would directly recieve. I recieve disability and axillary benefit for both my dependants. I contacted social security and weeks prior and was unable to recieve 1099 from phone contact and was sent a new log in to request from on line. I went to enter information on 4-23 on irs site and now it said i have to wait till next years tax return to recieve dependants benefit.
Why were no notifications given that we had to enter dependants to recieve? The site specifically told us not to use form prior to 18th. You only gave from april 20 to april 22 at noon ? That is two day window when ssi has weeks notice. How is this ok? I wasnt even able to get person on phone or any contact when i checked site. It directly said not to use form prior to that date. There entire site had no way to get information for those on disability. This date deadline should be adjusted as the same time allowed for people on ssi. Again 2 days is not acceptable when No notices was advertised prior to inform public

Ssdi with D-Deposit since 2006 ,no payment, no pending, tool says ” Status not Available” What is going on? Chart says April 29th should have gotten. Many SSDi recipients havent gotten anything. Check internet. SSA get IRS to fix this.

I still haven’t received the $500 for my 11 year old daughter. I’m on SSDI and she receives my benefits as well though Direct Express. I filled out the non-filer forn and submitted it to IRS on April 17th and they accepted it. This was before the deadline of April 22nd. I don’t see why I didn’t receive the $500 for her, and with IRS saying I won’t get it until I file 2020 taxes in 2021…WOW their system sucks and my baby and I have to suffer. If the shoe was on the other foot, IRS would definitely MAKE US correct it…SMH

I am on SSDI. My husband and I have always filed a joint tax return. And I included my SS earnings for 2019. Even though it’s not taxable. Am I still eligible for the stimulus payment automatically?
