Commissioner of Social Security Shares Update about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments for Beneficiaries

“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

    Ya if u have payee there saying u wont get it and sadly alot of people have been claimed in 14 yr span did u no even ur neighbor can file on u. Also if uve been ran thru a backround check even if they dont find u wont there makin stuff as they go along. Like the rep told me. Do u think the real real people of streets will get a thousand from trump only cares about rich. U are crazy which also no joke if ur considerd verified state crazy its no go to

    Same here, NOTHNG. Several received there payments on Direct Express yesterday. but none today. Treasury and IRS , need to be more transparent and stop using expressions like “soon” or “in the near future”. I tried the “Get My Payment” site for myself and 3 others and all got the same “unable to determine” reply. No reason, no explanation. no suggestion as to what to do next.

    It’s April 30 and its the end if the month and no stimulus that’s crazy cuz there r people I know that got there’s it’s crazy how they got there’s and it suppose 2be 4everybody that’s on Social Security and SSI and suvrivor benefits…

    4/30/2020 I still havent gotten mine check either I’ve been on ssdi for 3 years now back when I had to pay child support the irs knew where my bank was then why cant they find me now

    End of April still no stimulus. Status not available on site. Ssdi / direct express. Funny how suddenly no one on here from social security to answer us now when up untill yesterday there was. Anybody with same problem?

      Is saying now we wont get our stimulus on direct express cards now that its time for us to get them .

      I’m, I’m on SSDI and was as scared as you all. But then when I checked get My payment on Monday there it was, the amount and when I’d get it..the 29th
      . Just like they said, end of Aor I’ll l. So if they said SSI people will get it, then wait t next week to start checking the Get my Payment. I’m not sure why wed be LAST to get it as WE need it first, but it DID come. Keep the faith

    Im on disability too. Cant seem to find any answers on when ill get my payment through direct deposit. Its a messed up situation because all the ones i know are getting them.
