“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

My husband is on disability and he gets his disability check by direct deposit. He hasn’t received his stimulus check yet..I check the IRS website on get my payment and All it tells me there checking to see if he’s eligible..I understood that in order to get his check that they get his direct deposit information through the social security office. Not sure what’s going on.

My son gets survivor benefits as well as SSI. I get SSI . Neither one of us got anything. Some say that survivor benefits were coming in today? Well he hasn’t got anything. No direct express no check NOTHING. We have bills we need to pay just like anyone else. So here’s the question ?? Are we going to get the stimulus check? Or are we going to get left out ? I’m tired of the disappointment in his eyes when nothing is there. Please someone give us some updates not any beat around the bush . Please we deserve to know something. Cause direct express says they don’t know anything. Well someone must know something? Maybe ??? Please help . Thank You

Social Security will not answer your questions. My wife of 48 years has been a house wife and I do not think that they will give her stimulus.

I’m on survivors benefits through social security, I didn’t file for taxes as I’m not required to. I did get a 1099 form and have direct deposit. Based on everything I’ve seen I was suppose to get my payment by today. What’s going on? Can someone please help me here.
