“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I am retired on Social Security, my husband is on Social Security Disability we only received 1 $1200 payment this morning. We don’t know which one of us received it and which one didn’t. I can’t find anywhere to check if a couple only gets 1 or if they way come tomorrow. If you find any info could you please leave a comment?

I am on ss disability and also widows benefits. I receive my payments through direct deposit and have been for years. My check has not been deposited, nor does it show pending. Every thing I have read states that it will be in the bank by today. Anyone else in this situation?

Could the SSA please give an update when the COVID19 Stimulus Payment will be deposited? It seems like another SNAFU from the Trump Administration.

Why are those of us on SSI being punished. We are at the lowest point on the income spectrum. We should have received our payments long ago, when those with direct deposit received theirs. SSA already had our information. Why did it take so long to decide 1. That we received the payment at all and 2. How we would receive our payment. It is terrible how we have been treated as second class citizens. It is a real eye opener how the U.S. Government treats the elderly and the disabled in this country. Something needs to change. Smh

I have no payee and should not have any complication getting stimulus check. But nothing. Why weren’t those of us on SS paid FIRST? Like others, I got up today @5am to check. Nothing. Very poor communication. Disappointing.

I receive ssdi and I have a payee. I’m still waiting on my stimulus payment. my normal monthly benefit is pending on my direct Express but not the stimulus. Does anyone know if anyone with a payee has received their stimulus payment? I’m getting worried! They shouldn’t make us worry like this!
