“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

You know… things could be worse… if Trump didn’t come up with this stimulus money for us, we would all be getting NOTHING. It might take time to get it, but at least we will be getting it, sooner or later. I have posted the schedule of payments over a dozen times, click on the Older Comments link down below all these comments, on left side of page. I’m on SSDI with Direct Express and mine is showing as pending and IRS says I’ll get it on April 29th. Read the previous posts on older comments pages and you’ll have a time frame on when you’ll get yours. There is no government agent sitting here answering every question, there is one employee that is on here sometimes but she’s not chained to a computer. Those of us that are answering questions are here only to try and help others, we are in the same boat you are. 🙂

Trump didnt come up on this stimulus for people on social security, it was the Democrats , trump didn’t want to include social security, in fact he wants to eliminate people on social security, these are the hard facts its on you tube news and wall st. News cnn news get your facts correct

    • Kathy

Not true. Maybe for you. Good for you though.

  8. Janice

Will SSI recipients receive a second check?

    • Peter

Are you serious? They cant even get out this one correctly and your asking for #2 i think we should worry about just the first one , and i dont think anything will be done till this one all out ! Think about that?

  9. Billie

I called my direct Direct Express card and it says that my normal benefits is pending but it doesn’t say nothing about the stimulus checks if anybody is know about that

    • Tiffany L.

      Min said the same thing

      • Jay

they said they don’t know when it will be sent on your d-express card , but they are sending stimulus out now and can be any day ! just keep checking … ty

  10. Robbie B.

I called direct express and my $1200 will be available April 30. But I used non- filer tool to claim $500 for my daughter. Had to open a bank account just to receive it. Will it be deposited to the bank later? Or maybe a paper check? Or did I just get screwed?

    • Sarah

You are not alone and there are a lot of other people on this blog saying they didn’t get the money for the dependants. I filled out the on filers form on April 10 with my bank info. I have the 1200 pending on my direct Express card but no $500 for my son. I’m not really sure what to do now but your not alone.

      • Bridget

Same boat as well. Use the non-filers tool on the 12th and accepted by the IRS the same day to file my two dependents and that payment is not included in my stimulus payment that’s pending in my bank.
