“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

This is more updated than even the I.R.S. website, which was last updated April 1st.
Again…disregard supperdodo, he’s completely ignorant and spreading disinformation. Some people just take it personally when their ignorance is pointed out.

The Social Security Administration and The I.R.S. are probably working on correcting the situation. I’m waiting to see if they do. I’m following the situation very closely. I will keep everyone updated.

      • William

Do YOURself a favor and stop talking. You have no clue what you are talking about. You are the one spreading disinformation. My statements have been verified. Yours have been debunked repeatedly. If you ONLY receive S.S.I. or V.A. benefits you will NOT, at least not until this situation is remedied, automatically receive your stimulus funds. You still have to file. Turbo Tax currently let’s you file for stimulus even if you have no other income. All other social security recipients are the ones who don’t have to file. Not all Social Security programs are the same program. The ones that make use of 1099 forms are the ones that get their stimulus funds automatically. The ones that don’t use 1099 forms (S.S.I. and V.A. benefits) still have to file. If you read the posts made by the Social Security Administration people on this very thread, you would know that, but you clearly are more interested in being abusive towards others. People like you belong in jail or in nut houses. You’re clearly mentally unhinged and a danger to yourself and others.

  3. Sue

Do ssi still have to file simple tax returns to get their stimulus?

    • William

Yes. Until the I.R.S. and Social Security Administration fix this oversight, you will have to. …but I would wait to see if they remedy the oversight, otherwise you may be forced to wait for 5+ months to even see that money after you file.

For those who are still confused, read this article…

      https://www.google.com/amp/s/feeds.aarp.org/retirement/social-security/info-2020/ssi-eligibility-stimulus-checks.html%3f_amp=true

Don’t let this situation go unresolved.

      • supperdodo

Wow dude you must be an old geezer who thinks is the know it all, stop confusing people like you know it ALL, cause you don’t not even closely, your old news like you is just as it says OLD NEWS, things have changed but you didn’t your still old and really dumb stay where it is you live and drive other people insane as you probably have allready done

        • William

S.S.I. and V.A. benefits are NOT considered social security for these purposes. People whose sole income comes from either do NOT receive 1099 forms, which is what the I.R.S. will be using to send people their stimulus funds. Go back to the I.R.S. page. Read it all and comprehend it, because clearly you don’t comprehend anything, “dude”.

To everyone else, don’t listen to this 4chan troll. He is clueless. Research what I’m saying and you will see that I’m right. The I.R.S. website itself verifies what I’m saying to be factual. If you don’t believe me, ask a tax lawyer. They will say the same thing.

    • supperdodo

    • A.C.

Hi, Sue. Thank you for your question. Recipients of Supplemental Security Income will get an economic impact payment. We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information at Coronavirus Tax Relief when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months. We hope this helps.

      • Lori

Thank you Sue for a straight answer. I’m so sick of everyone arguing with each other on here. It’s crazy lol

  4. Vanthamma

So if someone claims you while being on ssi , the person with ssi wont receive a stimulus check ? Please answer!!

    • William

If someone claims you on their tax forms as a dependent, you don’t get the stimulus funds.

If you are in arrears on child support, you might not get the funds, depending on how much you owe.

      • supperdodo

William you idiot, that i r s . letter nees clearly reads that ssi and veteran will get the stimulus checks , if they are receiving there benifits then they too will get the stimulus ckecks you dont comprehen shit, you are confusing these people, you old goat get off this page and go vack in your hole and dictate your other moles who are so dull like you that know nothing of anything from you stop it and for info its called i.r.s. news letter stimulus checks and if you follow from on the very top on here it gives the same info people do not need do anything ok.. william your nothing more than an idiot an old idiot that cant be taught nothing old dogs cant be taught no new tricks so your full of gossip to confuse people that what you major in ,, if you cant read and i guess you can’t, and Zippo no friends from your dictator rules , your one lost soul no one will take your advice your STUPID an idiot, you cant read to understand what is READ ,

  5. William

Will S.S.I. and V.A. recipients receive their stimulus payment in their Direct Express account yet, or have the Treasure (I.R.S.) and Social Security not remedied the oversight yet?

For those who are still confused, read this article…

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/feeds.aarp.org/retirement/social-security/info-2020/ssi-eligibility-stimulus-checks.html%3f_amp=true

    • supperdodo

Lol that’s old news like 5 days ago things have change, all social security people every single itty bitty next to nothing will get a stimulus, EVERYONE, on social security all the adult’s that is, you have child supports back payment kiss the check goodbye,, stranger things have happen tho , goid luck people stay well and be safe,

      • William

It has not changed for S.S.I. or V.A. recipients. You have no clue. Don’t speak on things you don’t understand. You will only confuse people further. S.S.I. and V.A. recipients do NOT get the stimulus funds automatically. ..yet. The Social Security Administration and the I.R.S. have not changed this yet. Do S.S.I. and V.A. recipients qualify? Yes. …but they still have to file a simple tax form. Turbo Tax has something set up for this. However, this does Not help many S.S.I. or V.A. recipients receive their stimulus funds in a timely manner as most S.S.I. and V.A. recipients use Direct Express cards and do Not have access to their account numbers or their routing numbers. The Social Security Administration and the I.R.S. have Not remedied this situation for S.S.I. or V.A. recipients. Nothing has changed since the article I posted was written. NOTHING. The information in the article is STILL 100% ACCURATE. If you do a Google search for “s.s.i.” and “stimulus” you will see other articles that are more recent, often with less information, that completely verify what I’m saying.

        • supperdodo

You need read ( i.r.s. news letter stimulus checks) and my friend thats the truth not what your saying you stop telling what untrue, social security does not make out payment’s its the Treasury to the i.r.s. , whom will use all READ IT RIGHT THE WORD IS ( ALL. ) all social security people will get stimulus payment’s whether its by direct deposit or mailed check just as ALL have ALWAYS received a social security monthly check, so what part you dont understand ? So the answer is YES. ALL WILL get that stimulus check all social security, nobody needs do anything it will be there just as the same way as there payments get to them, YOU need read the ( i.r.s. news letter stimulus check ) there you will find the frickin truth,

Stop spreading misinformation, supperdodo. You have no idea what you are talking about. S.S.I. and V.A. recipients do Not have 1099 forms if S.S.I. and V.A. benefits are their ONLY source of income and will not AUTOMATICALLY get their stimulus funds. They still have to file to receive their stimulus funds. Go back to 4chan and waste their time. You are clearly an Internet troll with no conscience.
