“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

READ!!!SSI,SSD,SS,SSDI,Working people who make under $75,000 each if married $150,000 will get $1,200 each=2,400. If children under 17 you get $500.00 per child. No more than $3,400 for family of 4.. If you are an illegal immigrant you do not get a check! If you owe child support it goes to the parent it is due to. Anyone on SS,SSD,SSI,SSDI all will receive check automatically deposited if you have a Bank account otherwise you will wait longer. You do not need to fill out or call the IRS unless you moved because wherever you lived when they sent your last automatic payment is where they will send it! Repeat! Anyone with a social security number that makes under $75,000 a year will get a $1,200 check plus $500.00 per child up to 2 children. They have your information already on file,so stop asking ridiculous questions and educate yourself..

I get SSI & have a 23 & 16 year old. My Ex husband claims them every year ( our court papers say he can) both children did taxes 2019, but marked the box that said someone else can claim you. Will They get checks? Or will my husband get the check because he claimed them?

    • Eric

No, they will not get a check

There are so many mistruths on here, I don’t why people like to get others upset over misstating information if you don’t know don’t say nothing you will do more harm than good,

  4. Tricia

I hope in tomorrow’s news it will say people who RECEIVE SSI will not have to file to get stimulus.

  5. Amanda

I am a SSI payee for my minor daughter. I have no income of my own. Will I receive my stimulus on her direct Express card?

    • Heather

I am wondering the same thing and I haven’t seen that addressed anywhere.

      • Luisa O.

Do I get 1,200.00 dollars?? Cuz I get ssi check and I have bank ok

    • Natty

That’s the same question I have been looking to answer to no avail what so ever

People that are receiving Social Security Supplemental Insurance WILL ALSO BE RECEIVING THE STIMULUS PAYMENT FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. It was stated on numerous news outlets and online in the IRS website. I am on it & U also spoke directly with a news reporter. & they also confirmed that we will also be receiving it. I filed a tax return when I haven’t not since I have been on SSI. The IRS website allows you to file the federal tax return for free & they give you instructions on how to file if you are only filing to receive the stimulus Payment. That’s what I did to put my direct deposit information on there. So again YES PEOPLE WHO ARE ON SOCIAL SECURITY SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE ARE ALSO GOING TO BE RECEIVING THE FEDERAL STIMULUS PAYMENT FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. LOOK IT UP ON THE IRS WEBSITE IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME. BEFORE GIVING FALSE INFORMATION DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST.

Will i revive the $500 per child ? I have three children that r reviving benefits off me n i am on SSDI ? I am a single mother so will i get the $1200 plus the $500 per child too ?

What about a person who was on SS Disability from 2012 thru 2019 (victim of a high speed, wrong-way drunk). But benefits stopped due to missing doctor’s appointment(s). He ended up in the hospital 2x this year, and is in the process of waiting to hear if his benefits will restart. But that could take a long time. I’m trying to help ensure he gets his stimulus check, even though he can’t e-file a tax return. The 2018 e-file window is closed, but he has a small refund coming, so that is in the mail. But because he doesn’t owe and won’t get a refund for 2019, he cannot e-file that either. And paper returns are taking forever right now. I noticed the IRS is planning to come up with a form for folks like this. I was just hoping it wasn’t necessary in the subject case.

I have two dependents in my home besides myself , I draw Social Security . Why can I not add them and will they fix it to were I can?

  10. Kadisha R.

What about those who are ssi that owe child support and is not anymore obligated to pay child support ?

    • Mary

I believe it says if you owe back child support, the treasury will offset it. That is the only debt they are offsetting.
