Coming Soon: Improved Check Your Application or Appeal Status Service
Reading Time: 1 MinuteLast Updated: November 3, 2023
In December, Social Security will launch a new service for my Social Security account holders where the public can check on the status of an application for benefits or an appeal filed with us.
The service will provide detailed information about retirement, disability, survivors, Medicare, and Supplemental Security Income claims and appeals filed either online on our website or with a Social Security employee.
The ability to check your application status will be available online to everyone who has or opens a secure personal my Social Security account. You can open an account on our website.
The service will provide important information about your claim or appeal, including, as appropriate:
- Date of filing.
- Current claim location.
- Scheduled hearing date and time.
- Incomplete applications.
- Servicing office location.
- Claim or appeal decision.
If you are unable to open a personal my Social Security account, you can still call 1-800-772-1213 to check your claim status by using our automated system using the confirmation number you received when you filed your claim.
Providing our customers with more claim status information helps us meet our goal of delivering innovative, quality services to you and helping secure today and tomorrow.

I never received a confirmation # for my application. I had a # to get back into my application was all. Now when I try to set up my account, it won’t allow me. I don’t know why I’m having so much trouble. I called SS and the lady said she could give me no information for 30-45 day because the appl was in progress. I realize that, but all I need is a print out of some sort to show an estimated amount that I will receive so I can get health ins. – they want proof of my income from SS for 2018 before I can finalize my ins and the deadline is 12-15-17!!! Can you please help me?
I think some of the trouble could be from the fact that my name has been both my first name has been used with one and two “L” s at times in the past.

I cannot see any info regarding my case at all on MySSA!! It states that I am not eligible due to expiration of my DLI, but I have an active case going. I was remanded from the Appeals Council back to the ALJ, I know I am with the decision writers. Why can I not see any case info or the fact that I have an active case?
R.F.
We apologize for the inconvenience, Kimberly. If you cannot check the status of your application online, please call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213 and ask one of our agents to assist you. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Generally, you will have a shorter wait time if you call later in the week, thanks.
