Check the Status of Your Social Security Benefits Claim Online

Woman sitting down checking information on a tabletIf you applied for Social Security benefits, or have a pending reconsideration or hearing request, you can check the status online using your personal my Social Security account. If you don’t have an account, you can create one to see the following information about your claim:

  • Date of filing.
  • Current claim location.
  • Scheduled hearing date and time.
  • Incomplete applications.
  • Servicing office location.
  • Publications of interest, depending on the claim and current step in the process.

Use your personal my Social Security account to check the status of your application or appeal. If you have questions about retirement, disability, Medicare, or survivors benefits, as well as Supplemental Security Income, visit our Benefits page.

    My letter from SS says I can to on line to “check your claim status” and enter my confirmation number for the claim. But when I do that, it prompts me to set up an account. I don’t even see a “check your claim status”

The my Social Security online account is a personal online service you can use to check your Social Security information and do some business with us. If you are unable to access your claim status online, you can call 1-800-772-1213 and use our automated telephone system with the confirmation number you received when you filed your claim. Or, call your local Social Security office. You’ll find the phone number using our Office Locator. Please be aware our call wait times are longer than normal. We hope this information helps.

    This is ridiculous. I have been denied 4 times Already i have congestive heart failure among other debilitating illnesses and nothing the last time has been in pending status for months now and nothing ilk die before I get any money. I hand delivered paperwork to Moreno Valley SSI for spousal benefits monthes ago and still nothing . I need a job like that nothing accomplished at all. I need this money badly. I am homeless because of my ex and can’t get any help from anyone it seems.

      Debra, we are sorry to hear about your disability. If you were recently denied, you may file an appeal within 60 days of receiving the decision and provide additional evidence.

      If you need help requesting an appeal, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213 for assistance or contact your local Social Security office. Look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. Please be aware that our call wait times are longer than normal.

      Some individuals may be eligible to receive additional assistance from the state where they live; while they wait for a final determination on their disability claim. These services include Medicaid, free meals, housekeeping help, transportation or help with other problems. You can get information about services in your area from your state or local social services office. You can also visit the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services web page for more information.       I applied in April for Medicare and 4 months later , nothing! I call every week, am told they will get it figured out, but nothing ever happens! I have (had) tri care that requires me to have Medicare at 65. Now I have NO insurance since 1 July. Who can help with this ? Don’t tell me to call , they have been NO help at all

    I’m inquire about if I had any corresponding to a request from prior application and review from the medical referral from heart diagnoses from Doctor Cho in Middletown New York Crystal Run Medical Center. I wanted retire with the amendment form the recommendation term of work and labor.
