man and woman reading on laptop2018 is almost here! It’ll be a New Year. There’s no better time to tell you about the features we have in my Social Security . They not only save you time, but also put you in control of your retirement future.

There are a growing number of states (and the District of Columbia) where, if you’re a resident, you can request a replacement Social Security card online. Our new online version of the Application for a Replacement Social Security Card can make getting a replacement easy and stress free. It allows people to apply for a replacement card through my Social Security without traveling to a field office or card center, as long as you’re not requesting a name change or any other change to your card. We are working to add this capability to every state.

Your personal my Social Security  account is secure and gives you ready access to your earnings records, Social Security benefit estimates, and printable Social Security Statement. Those who already receive benefits can view their payment history, current status, and manage their benefits.

Social Security has also made replacing your annual Benefit Statement even easier. The Benefit Statement (known as the SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S) shows the amount of benefits you received the previous year and is needed for filing taxes. Now you have the ability to download it using our online services. There’s no need to visit a field office. A replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S is available after February 1 for the previous tax year.

If you don’t have a my Social Security  account, creating a secure account is very easy to do and usually takes less than 15 minutes.

      Hi Clay, if you get Social Security benefits or are enrolled in Medicare, you can change your address online by using a my Social Security account. If you get SSI, do not have a U.S. mailing address, or are unable to change your address online, you can call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thanks!

    I just received a letter from Social Security saying my new benefit amount is $879.00 ..the amount I received before was $1100.00.
    No explanation of reduction at all.
    When I called the Social Security number I went through 20 minutes of questions… Then I was told it would be “An Hour And A Half” for the next assistant to help me.
    What the H***?!!!

      Calling SS does not help..Go to your local SS office & you’ll get yr answers there with usually no more than 10 min. wait in line..

    PLEASE, NO POSTING AT ALL.
    Tell me why the city THE SYSTEM now. waukee, many Doctors, and the State of Wisconsin. All list me, record me document as being disabled your people in the Social Security division keeps but on the SS or SSI SSDI, refusing my claim. For years 9 to more.The last “paycheck” I got was in 2012, now I get state help. but only a 3 months more. then its ya later. My son ( also listed a being special needs child )
    are about to be homeless. Well, my son may stay behind at HIS grandparents his house, on his mother’s side. I could stay in my can bit needs repairs, makes no matter it is nice this time of the year yesterday we hit [ 0 ] degrees. The housing authority, plus most other places like HUD, are no help the request lines are miles long as they say and it is only done 2 times a year so unless to me now 1 or 2 human popsicles arriving soon. NONE of the shelters were you in by
    X time and out by X time. we would rather take the chances in my van until the busted sensor kills the engine $10 part but 300-$400 labor fee, Oh being kicked out because they want to sell the home. If they say my son can stay, then 12/25/17 will be the time I will get to see him.what court will let a homeless – sleeping in van disabled get his son? The grandparent will do it. They have done things like that before, Face to face with the SSI people told them I was unfit, unable mentality incapability So what you say to all that. Now it will be true no home, jobless no longer getting W2 no eats nada.

    Where is my check ? I usually receive it direct deposit to my checking acct. with Chase Bank on the forth Wed. of each month ! Is it late because of the Christmas holiday ?

To report a late or missing payment, contact us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Your bank may also be able to tell you why a deposit failed.       We are sorry for the inconvenience, Patricia. Although you need a U.S. address to register for a my Social Security account, you do not need a U.S. address to access our website or file online for benefits.
      The “my Social Security” authentication system requires address verification as one of the essential criteria for issuing an account. People with APO/FPO/DPO addresses can create an account overseas, but our system does not support registration and account creation for users with a foreign address yet.
      Please contact your local U.S. embassy or consulate for any assistance related to your Social Security benefits. Also, our Office of International Operations home page provides more information to assist our customers living abroad.

    I would like to look at my Medicare account & see if and when I owe money again. I do not want to be in arrears or be cancelled as a penalty. I have no clue what my financial status is and I cannot seem to find it online. Very very complicated so far and my occupation was business manager so I am not lacking financial knowledge. The government is never user friendly.
