Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

The SSA site states people with payees will receive the funds by the 27th of this month. David, where are you getting your information from??
I am getting mine directly from the source, I’d be weary of any other information you are reading.

        • Wyu

Thing says 27 th of this month i think better be

    • V.V.

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your question. The Internal Revenue Service, which is part of the Department of Treasury, will be making Economic Income Payments to eligible people. To help you quickly and easily determine whether you need to take any action to receive your Economic Impact Payment, check out the step-by-step instructions on the Social Security and Coronavirus web page: https://www.ssa.gov/coronavirus/#anchorA. On that page, you will also find details about how the IRS will send economic impact payments to individuals that have a representative payee.

    • Brenda C.

  5. Mariann S.

  6. DAVID S.

I don’t understand people on ssi. Are the most vulnerable, but as of may 14th of 2020. SSI, and va have not gotten there stlimus money. Why? When people who made $70,0000.00 are getting there’s this week. The irs has forgotten us and millions of others. We don’t even make $10000.00 a year. Is the irs out of money? How much longer do we need to suffer? We are dropping like flies. I mean, we are dying out here. With money at all. It seems like no one cares about us. Please tell me why? I think I will send a message to everyone in the news who is willing to listen. No one can give me a answer.q

We’re the poorest and most vulnerable people financially ( I’m SSDI, no stimulus received ) so realize NO ONE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT US. You can tell all the news agencies in the country, and when they ask Mnuchin he’ll smile like he does, look at the reporters, and say AGAIN ” blah blah blah, blah blah”. News agencies will run with that, once again, and we’ll run to the mail box every day again, check our accounts every day AGAIN, “try” to access a government portal that says ‘no info’ AGAIN, and eventually we’ll realize we’ve been duped, someone rich got the money diverted to them, ( didn’t big corporations get monies meant for small businesses? ), and no one will do anything, because we’re the poorest, so NO ONE CARES WHAT HAPPENS TO US. We’ve got no voice … No “juice”.

    • Tricia

I’m on SSDI and I still haven’t received my stimulas check yet

  7. Kenneth M.

My wife and I are both receiving SS checks at the time… 1/9/2020 she passed away … then the CV began. A few days ago I received a “stimulus check “. For both she and I $2400…she is gone. I remain…

    What do I do ?

    • Bruce N.

Google it. People on here are trying to get monies to feed living children, living spouses … People trying to feed kids and you’re whining about money you have already. This ain’t the place to mourn, and Google can answer about your dead wifes money.

    • DAVID S.

Did you file a tax return jointly? The answer to your question is yes you can keep it. Since she did die during the pandemic. Which automatically qualifies you. Srry for your loss.

  8. Hugh

The IRS is now claiming 85% completion. NO WAY. I am 77, on social security for 15 years (NOT SSI NOT SSDI) just plain old SSA. I do not file tax returns, my social security is my only income. I have used direct deposit for 12 years, Direct Express since it started. Accoedingly, I should have received my EIP already, UNLESS, their is some unposted critiria or a problem with IRS records. BUT, they do not provide any information, the “Get My Payment” just keeps saying “we are unable” at this time. Maybe they have an issue with your address, maybe they did not get your SSA1099, but no one will ever know unless they get that progarm fixed to give a reason not just an excuse. And SSA won’t help, they just say it is not their responsibilty.

    • .arjorie

      Same here. Nothing received yet….

  9. Felicia

What is hell going on with this article of the social security administration website saying now ssi receipts that have a representative payee the irs is saying they are not sure when these checks will be processed!!! I am sick and tired of this dam bullshit game back and forth with irs about ssi receipts now they coming up with more bullshit about representative payees every dam time it comes close to a date for ssi receipts to get paid their economic payments they keep coming up with more billshit!!!! I think they are just making up dam excuses. because they don’t won’t to give ssi receipts shit!!! Everybody done got their mobey except alot of us on ssi and some of us ssdi also veterans not got theurs either!!!! Their dam asses need to be fired!!! And replace with people who going get this stimulus money to ssi, ssdi, and veterans this has been too much of a long dam dragged out battle the dam bill was passed back in march here it is going on the middle of may some of us getting federal benefits still getting the same old bullshit day after day and no straight answrs!!!. Only thing we see is other people getfing their money and looking to get more if congress pass a second bill!!! While some of us still have not gotten money from the bill passed in March!!! Give us our dam money if not stop lying to us and just give us a straight answer on whether or not we going get it instead of keep pushing us to the back of the line and treating us like we aren’t shit and nobody’s!!! Dam the irs you dam people don’t know what fuck you all are doing!!! Sebding dead people checks and immigrants that don’t even live in the united states stimulus checks!!!! But we the america people alot of us you have not given us shit!!!! Stop this dam lying to us dammitt!!! Give our dam stimulus money!!!! Why is this so hard for you all to do????? When you all got our dam information from social security administration and vetern affairs agency!!!! Bunch of fucking liars day after day irs been lying every since March about social security receipts and veterans money time for us to get paid you all find more dam excuses!!!!

    • Candi

Yes, is very frustrating at this point. Don’t forget about the people who have never even worked or paid taxes, that received their eip payment already. At least most of us receiving help from the SSA have worked and paid taxes. I don’t blame any one part of government for any of this though. It’s hard to lay blame on anyone when so much information on why it is taking so long isn’t available to form a real opinion. I support my government and just hope that people like you and I receive the help we need soon. Believe me I am having a hard time dealing with all of this too! An update would have been great!! I was expecting to see one yesterday, but still nothing. Obviously someone is not doing their job right. Like I said though it’s hard to lay blame on just anyone…

  10. Felicia A.

I pray SSI and ssd get there check the 13th

    • Sad T.

Felicia God gave us trump and trump gave us chaos. There won’t be any more recipients for stimulus payments, only chaos, death and destruction. Save your prayers for when it gets worse, because trump is ordained by God to utterly destroy this place.

      • Jason c.

Thank God for trump .Felicia I’m sure you well soon

    • DAVID S.

Are you still waiting. What’s going on with our ssi money
