Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

Wow passed another package. Who cares by the time I get the first 1200 others will have got six of the new monthly. Come on people, to pass along SSI info from one to another is not that difficult. I could build a program in less than a day on WordPress so why can’t you put 2 and 2 together yet? I really wish it’s never put track my payment on line because it doesn’t do anything anyway. This was a ploy to buy more time and don’t even say it wasn’t, I am not an idiot. I know six 18 yr olds who got there 1200 and more. Five of them have never served the country and never paid into it’s or SSI but they get more per month than most on SSI. Sad but true. Free medical with kids from State, free food from State, free rent from State and 90 percent of the baby daddy live rent free with them. Please don’t tell me no because I can take you to a place, nice place, where these woman at 18 accidently got pregnant. How do you accidently get pregnant? I had one of those woman years ago. She had five more accidents with five other poor soles and I know she got way way more than I did. Nuff bitching but someone needs to fix this before suicides start in. Do not laugh it is going to happen slot mark my word. Plus domestic abuse being locked down? This is not pretty by the time it’s over spouses will hate each other

  6. Patty I.

My husband recvs social security retirement with direct deposit. We were married 3 yrs ago and neither of us can recall that we notified ssa, ever. I am unemployed and too, I do not file taxes. Do I need to fill out the non filers form or does the IRS already know our married status?

  7. Angelina J.

I am on disability and have not received my stimulus check when will I get it?

    • V.V.

Hi Angelina, thank you for your question. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making automatic Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Treasury anticipates these payments to go out to Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries starting around the end of April and to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients starting in early May. Continue to check the irs.gov/coronavirus page for updates.

I owe back child support,my question is they already taken child support from my SSi ,so will they take my whole stimulus check ,I need food and to pay Bill’s too and keep a roof over my head too

    • Kris

They aren’t allowed to collect child support from SSI. I get SSI and my child support stopped

      • James

Yes they can, they get 372 from mine

        • REDYur

no they dont you either are a liar or you dont receive SSI period it even says so directly on the faq for SSI they cant take any money out of your ssi for any reason whatsoever as it is not considered income you can be sued have a judgement against you and they still cannot touch any part of your SSI so either you get ssdi or you are lying or they over payed your ssi and they are taking holding money out because you spent an overpayment

  9. May s.

I get Ssi. …when. Will it be here

    • V.V.

Hi May, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Treasury expects automatic payments for Social Security beneficiaries no later than the end of April and automatic payments for SSI recipients no later than early May. We hope this helps.
