Act Now – Go to IRS.gov – A Message from Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul

Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who don’t file tax returns will start receiving their automatic Economic Impact Payments directly from the Treasury Department soon. People receiving benefits who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes, and have qualifying children under age 17, however, should not wait for their automatic $1,200 individual payment. They should immediately go to the IRS’s webpage and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information.

Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries with dependent children and who did not file 2018 or 2019 taxes need to act by Wednesday, April 22, in order to receive additional payments for their eligible children quickly. SSI recipients need to take this action by later this month; a specific date will be available soon.

By taking this proactive step to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, their payment at this time will be $1,200. People would then be required to file a tax year 2020 tax return to obtain the additional $500 per eligible child.

I urge Social Security and SSI recipients with qualifying children who do not normally file taxes to take action now. Immediately go to IRS.gov so that you will receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for.

Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment

People with Direct Express debit cards who enter information at the IRS’s website should complete all of the mandatory questions, but they may leave the bank account information section blank as Treasury already has their Direct Express information on file.

Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information as they will not receive automatic payments from Treasury.

I know people who have less illness than I do who were approved for SSD/ SSDI. I have a college degree and I worked as long as I could before I was completely overwhelmed by my illness. I started working at the age of 13. I am NOT just looking for a payday (not that SSD/ SSDI is much money). I really needed it. Now I have no housing stability or income stability. I’m just hoping that I can die peacefully in my sleep.

    • dan c.

      ok with your dramatic ass.

      • Steven A.

Judgmental much? You probably shouldn’t comment on other people’s experiences because you have no idea what people are going through.

    Teressa contd,
more than at best 15 yards at a time. but with a marines never give up no surrender no retreat attitude i not only regaimed fully functioning legs i worked full time as a contractor until shortly after my 35th bday when i had a massive stroke in the part of the brain that controls motor functions, speech, and memory. i spen t the next three years in a nursing facility where i went thru rigerous physical and speech therapy where i had to learn how to walk talk and even wipe my own ass all over again in wich time my wife of ten years decided she couldnt take care of me for the rest of my life so she left and took my two youngest children with. if it wasnt for my oldest daughter who is 23 and just got married let me live with her i pay my part of the bills id prolly be homeless cause ive been on the housing waiting list for two years now. so if anybody shouldnt get the money is people like you not those of us that go without 90 percent of the time and 99 of the time having to pick witch bill you have to put off this month so u dont starve. so f—k u very much.

    • Mike

First of all, “teresa” is unlikely to read your comment, try replying to her directly genius. Second, TL;DR all that crap, but I do know for sure any vet has PRIORITY for housing assistance, and third, I don’t believe you are a respectable person, served our country or not. And I doubt you did. Piss off.

      • Jamie

Dint give me the option to or I would have smart ass and really I as mad about not o Ly her comment but several other people like her that think all people r on disability bc they r lazy and just wanna collect a check I was pretty much just using her as a reason. To get my comment out there so dont ever belittle me again like that I have earned my right to say my piece

  9. Jamie

this is for teressa who doesnt agree witgh us getting help like everyone else. first off this money wasnt meant for those who lost jobs. thats what the extra 600 per week people r getting with their unemployment is for. the stimulus money is to give the economy a very much needed burst to try and get the country back on its feet witch all it did was get it to just set uptight at best. now the so called money we get every month is equivelant to what a full time student in high school makes in a week working a part time minimum wage job gets paid in bout 2 weeks worth of working inwitch most disabled peoples checks after medicare is taken out in most cases is less than 1000 bucks a month. now add up a car payment hosing costs food cause what they offer u in food stamps isnt worth filling out the paper work and the most difficult and slow going process you have ever go thru and then once a year go thru the process all over again all feor in my caser anyways 7 dollars a month benefit. now i served in the USMC and was deployed in active combat lets just say a decade is easier than trying to count ho many times i was deployed, and my shortest deployment was 17 months. i was awarded 4 purple hearts, a bronze and silver star. the doctors told me the last time i got injured that i would never walk without assistance wether it be a walker crutches cain or whatever and not ever b able to walk no more contd,

  10. gene

hoping this money is in my bank in 24 hours straight up because i am done eating ramen noodle. im hungry all day

    • mason m.

probably not until the 30th.not trying to be a debbie downer, but they are not in a rush it seems. stimulus checks don’t even make news like they did a week ago. and that asshole mitch wants to block anymore checks from happening

      • Shawn

        Oh stop.
