A COVID-19 Update from Our Commissioner

I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits. Be aware that scammers may try to trick you into thinking the pandemic is stopping your Social Security payments but that is not true. Don’t be fooled.

To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time. There are several other ways you can get help. Many services are available online. If you have a critical need that you cannot address online, we can help you over the phone.

Please visit our website to find out what services we are continuing and which ones we are suspending, how to contact us, and important information about deadlines we are extending to ease the burden on you and medical providers during this pandemic.

    When will I ever get my stimulus check? I have been receiving a disability check for the last 16+ years. all my friends have received their Stimiulas Checks. Where is mine? When will I receive it? Am I going to receive it? Or is this just the BS I have been reading about on the Internet?

    I am on disability and I receive direct deposit through direct Express I still have not received my stimulus check I’m trying to find out a date for this as I’ve seen that there are many other people in my situation that have not received theirs yet either I see a lot about social security in about VA and people with dependent children but I don’t see anything about people on disability who have not received it yet okay

    I am 64 & have applied to start receiving my Social Security benefits, with my first check to be issued at the end of June 2020. I am self-employed & have the limit of a little over $18,000 I can earn through working. I am currently receiving unemployment through Texas Workforce Commission to help during this time of not being able to work.
    MY QUESTION: Is the amount being received through TWC not counted towards income for this year? & what about the stimulus check everyone received?

      Hi Bill, thank you for using our blog. The economic impact payment and unemployment insurance benefits are not counted under the Social Security annual earnings test and therefore do not affect your receipt of Social Security benefits. However, income from Social Security may reduce your unemployment compensation. Contact your state unemployment office for information on how your state applies the reduction.

    I would like to know when can I expect my stimulus check I have direct deposit and as of yet haven’t received my stimulus check.I also am receiving Social Security direct deposit so I do not know what the problem can be?

    I,m waiting for my stimulas check . I,m on social security i am a non flier and i have a payee. I make under 10.000 a year on social security. I also have direct deposit when do you think i might get it i need the money. Thanks

    Good morning I have a question? Now I been on ssdi for about 3 years an recieve a ssa 1099 an dont file taxes 2018 2019 but i have tried checking my payment status an it keep saying need more information well now we have a deadline may 13 for our bank info but cant get pass the first part now here question since I recieve the ssa 1099 an it’s also sent to irs why havent we recieve the stimulus check an happy mother day an thank u ssa for service u all do

    I am receiving SSDI and work part-time. My employer is giving us $2 more per hour and a couple of lump sum pre tax payments as hazard pay during this COVID-19 period. How will this affect my benefits? Should I reduce my hours to compensate for these extra benefits?

    Does Social Security recipients receive the $1,200 stimulus check (CARES)? If so, as of this date 5/9/20, I have never received a payment. I also work part-time. Additionally, I have already filed my 2019 Federal & State tax return in early March of this year. Please advise. Thank you.

    I was wondering when I would receive my stimulus check. How long will it be until I receive it. Many people around me have received theirs and I was just wondering when I can expect mine.

      Hi Miriam, thank you for your question. Treasury, not Social Security, will be making automatic Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the exact schedule for these payments. Continue to check the irs.gov/coronavirus page for updates.
