A COVID-19 Update from Our Commissioner

I want you to hear directly from me how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting our services. The first thing you should know is that we continue to pay benefits. Be aware that scammers may try to trick you into thinking the pandemic is stopping your Social Security payments but that is not true. Don’t be fooled.

To protect you and help stop the spread of this coronavirus, we cannot accept visitors in our offices at this time. There are several other ways you can get help. Many services are available online. If you have a critical need that you cannot address online, we can help you over the phone.

Please visit our website to find out what services we are continuing and which ones we are suspending, how to contact us, and important information about deadlines we are extending to ease the burden on you and medical providers during this pandemic.

    Just called my bank to check balance recording said we don’t have any info on YOUR stimulus check yet but you can check your balance !!! Get it YOUR check

    I AM on SSDI and recieve 783.00 and buy just a few a month and i really need this stimulus check by the time i pay my rent and phone. i have 20.00 to eat on every mth. i dont get welfare or foodstamps. but does anyone care. i live in a motel room 700.00 and can’t afford anywhere else. No one care about us who can’t work due to health problems , all the big wigs worry about is if they are going to eat steak or lobster for their dinner. You can say i am not living are only surviving day by day. As long as I wake up each day. is the only thing that counts .

    SSI recipients (different from SS retirement and SS disability) DO NOT receive a SSA-1099 (SSI is not taxable) form so how will they get a stimulus check?

    I receive SSI myself and so does my wife that has bad health problem’s since 2015 and I almost lost her which she is entitled to it. I’m 65 and sign up for the Ticket To Work program and tried for four years and three month to get a job but each time I was turned down. After writing the truth on the App I was told sorry you cannot work with the disabilities you have. I tried many, many more places and did lie those times but still turned down. After I turned 65 I got a letter from the SSA telling me because of my disability they have to turn me down. I worked in all types of the Law fields as well as Health work and know my work and after I did turn 65 I got a letter as well from Medicare telling me they were taking me off it because I did not get my 40 credits. I’m broke as well as my wife because I pay half for my medicine each month that is high so I’m fixing to give up depending on help with the SSA when they messed up my credits when I had 23 credits in December 1974. I was told I would not get a check of $1,200 but now it shows that I and alone with everyone else I will get one. It’s a touch and go from here on out.

      Yes Section 2201. 2020 recovery rebates for individuals
      All U.S. residents with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 ($150,000 married), who are
      not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible social security number, are
      eligible for the full $1,200 ($2,400 married) rebate. In addition, they are eligible for an
      additional $500 per child. This is true even for those who have no income, as well as those
      whose income comes entirely from non-taxable means-tested benefit programs, such as SSI
      benefits.

          According to the legislation, people who do not receive Social Security benefits and also do not typically file taxes because their income is very low will need to file a 2019 tax return in order to receive a stimulus check. That may be a challenge for some

            HI I HAVE A QUESTION IF I GET SSI AND FOR ANYONE WHO THINKS I DONT NEED IT IM DYING SO I CANT WORK JUST ASYING ,,,,BUT MY QUESTION DO WE STILL GET OUR CHECK FOR OUR REG BENEFITS AS WELL WITH STIM CHECK

    yeah. I was reading about the Spanish Flu of 1918: there were 2 waves, with the 2nd being deadlier than the first. sorry, I don’t want to sound like a doomsayer. back then, there were other important factors, the most important being WWI spreading the virus on a world-wide level…
