5 Ways SSA.gov Saves You TimeOur online tools and services save you time and make your life easier. Often, there’s no need to contact us. Here are five of our webpages that can make your life easier:

1. With your own personal my Social Security account, you can request a replacement Social Security card, verify your earnings, get future benefit estimates, obtain benefit verification letters.

3. You can complete and submit your online application for retirement benefits in as little as 15 minutes.

4. Access our publications library with online booklets and pamphlets, including audio versions, on key subjects.

5. Check out our Disability Benefits page to learn about our disability program and apply online for disability benefits.

    The local SS Office in Ponce, Puerto Rico is not open since March. I need a replacement card since I shredded the one I had following instructions to discard the previous one when I received generic one to be used henceforth. But all medical offices want the original one, not the generic! How can I get the regular one?

      Hi Aida, thank you for your question. First, realize you may not need a replacement card. You will rarely need to show it. Knowing your Social Security number is what is important.     I submitted petition name changed on September 2020, I got my card but no any of my original documents sent back to me. I kept calling but no one get back to me. I was considering my original docs lost, I submitted the replacement original petition but the waiting time is 11 months, now I can’t do anything, health care, register for school because I can’t change my name on my DL , DMV requires the original documents. It’s so desperated

    Hola. Quisiera saber qué pasa. Ya que el cheque mensual de ayuda a mi hijo discapacitado nunca a faltado. El lunes día de tormenta. Perfecto no hubo correoso 2 de febrero.     I cannot believe how Social Security agents can give wrong information. A relative who is on SSI called the Social Security Administration to find out how long he had to spend down the $600 stimulus check he received January 2021. He was told that he had to spend it down the month he received it (January 2021); otherwise, it would count as resources beginning February 2021. So he spent the whole payment down, even though he didn’t need to or want to.

    Fast forward a couple of weeks later and he and I find out from another source that blogs on SSI that he would have been able to spend down the $600 over the next 12 months instead of rushing to spend it down in January.

    The Social Security Administration really needs to either train their employees better or be careful who they are hiring. Recipients are receiving wrong information and if the Social Security Administration can’t give them accurate answers, who should recipients turn to?

    Social Security saves us time by letting Congress borrow our funds and never returning it. Congress are not in Social Security because they don’t want to steal their own money.
