Why It’s Important To Tell Us About Your Financial Accounts

Do you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI)? If so, you need to tell us about any financial accounts you own, alone or jointly with someone else. You must also promptly inform us of any changes to those accounts to ensure you receive the correct payment amounts.
What You Need to Tell Us
You need to tell us about certain changes to your financial account or account balances. Let us know if you:
- Open a new financial account.
- Close a financial account.
- Add a joint owner to an existing account.
- Increase your account balance over the resource limit.
The SSI resource limit for an individual is $2,000 and for a married couple where both members live together the limit is $3,000.
It’s important to tell us about changes in your financial situation to ensure your benefit amount is correct.
Examples of Financial Accounts
- Checking and savings accounts.
- Christmas club accounts.
- Certificates of deposit.
- Stocks and U.S. Savings Bonds.
Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Accounts
ABLE programs allow people with disabilities to save without losing access to important benefits. Savings in these funds will not be counted as resources by SSA when determining continued SSI eligibility. To learn more about ABLE accounts, visit ABLE Programs Prepare for Expanded Eligibility.
How to Report Changes
- Call toll free at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Contact your local Social Security Office.

The Social Security Administration is actually 100% responsible for the overpayments that occurred during the COVID-19 shutdowns, most of those overpayments are FALSE, as they were given notices to NON RECIPIENTS who weren’t entitled or eligible for benefits and never actually received any overpayment since they didn’t have eligibility to be receiving any benefits. Please remove those individuals and clear them out of the payment center system.

Please REMOVE AND CLEAR THE 2020 OVERPAYMENTS FROM THE “PAYMENT CENTER” OF NON RECIPIENTS. IT’S AFFECTING THE NON RECIPIENTS DUE TO TECHNICALLY STILL BEING ENLISTED AND ENROLLED AND IT DOES AFFECT EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY AS THE SSA OVERSEERS AND AFFILIATES BLOCK EMPLOYMENT SINCE THEY ASSUME YOU’RE ALREADY RECEIVING INCOME TO LIVE ON.

It’s been agreed by the social security administration, congress and courts to remove and eliminate these alleged erroneous 2020 Overpayment Payment Center Cases. Please remove them. Remember that the SSA is a POVERTY PROGRAM and recipients and enlisted Individuals are exactly that.. POOR. No way does it sound reasonable for anyone to pay back any sum of money if they’re not allowed to have a total of 2,000 USD in assets and that includes the amount of food in their possession.

Overpayments are being pursued by Individuals claiming to be with the social security administration and are threatening individuals, companies, employers not to hire or do business with the Individuals the social security administration is pursuing with the alleged secretive debt they’re not suppose to know exists. The social security administration debt collectors tell neighbors, family, acquaintances and anyone their targeted Individual comes across, that they’re intentionally causing poverty because the individual is in a POVERTY PROGRAM which belongs to the SSA. They laugh and smile about the oppression and despair they are causing. They tell people that the Individual has “debt” that they are “not suppose to know about” and the community tells them, then why are y’all after them? If they are not allowed to work or know that a debt exist? And they simply smile and mention all the money they’re making while the government is WASTING money.
SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION is being RANSACKED FROM WITHIN by their very own OIG, CDI PROGRAM UNIT, overseers, contractors and affiliates. They are intentionally causing financial hardships, blocking all types of income so you can’t progress, poisoning people by giving them unknown substance without their knowledge by threatening an paying someone who usually would have access to your nutrition to put these things into your food and beverages. Finding and USING (doppelgangers) people that look like you to report or say that you been places that you never actually been or at that moment. They intentionally block all opportunities for income and also online sources of income so don’t think being an online trader will work. All these while they threaten and pay people “to not say anything” it’s a secret” “they’re not suppose to know” ” don’t tell them” meanwhile they threaten people to make FALSE statements about the individual and force them to believe conspiracies and many FALSE theories of the reasons why this is OCCURING. SSA is a POVERTY PROGRAM is what they claim to keep you unemployed and isolated. The SSA OIG routinely deal in RACKETEERING, CONSPIRACY AND FRAUD. RANSACKING THE ADMINISTRATION FROM WITHIN.

Excellent comment and very accurate. SSA is involved with far more nefarious “secret” acts than the people can possibly wrap their heads around. SSA and Dept of Treasury teamed up to allow the most corrupt bank, Comerica, and their incompetent useless debit card scam, US Direct Express. Every word on its website is a total lie, your funds ARE NOT secure, nor is the easiest card hackable on the market. Millions of the most vulnerable in our society using this “honey pot card” lose on average 300$ a month of their benefit, 24/7 every day. If that isnt enough these victims are put through the most outrageous process to get any and all money back. Rarely does a victim receive an approved dispute. Its actually unheard of. Their dispute reps are absolute liars, no other card company in this country requires up to 90 days to determine your dispute. At most 7 days. SSA, Treasury does this on design, hoping you just forget about because of the long amount of time you have to wait. People who are so disgusted with their process and know it will just be denied anyway, continue to be an available cash cow of millions stolen from victims to help fund the UN Corporation and their support and sponsorship of illegals invading this country. Its no secret any more that the Federal Govt Corporation is funding and behind the invasions and giving millions to these criminals monthly on debit cards. This fact has been proven by Epoch Times News. These Govt Corporations are absolutely ILLEGAL/UNLAWFUL and have no authority or power over the American People. All this has been done without the People’s knowledge or consent, they are under the delusion they have more power than the people and there is nothing the people can do about it. There is a reason WHY the People hold all the power, to remind them we can legally Dissolve all their Corporations. No Federal Corp. official can not legally be president to a public office, since we havent had a fair and secure election for over a century our votes do not count. Which is why a CEO is selected. The Govt does not work for the People and explains the total corruption we witness daily, once the people stop voting it will become very clear, the govt is saturated with treasonous traitor criminals. I been given misinformation for 17 years by the SSA I was given misinformation in 2007 about my work credits when I went to apply for disability It only took 15 years and hundreds of emails for y’all to realize that y’all made a mistake y’all reopened a 2014 disability claim only for it to be denied because of lack of medical evidence I lost medical records from at least seven doctors due to the length of time It took for y’all to realize the mistakes y’all had made in South Carolina doctors are only required to keep medical records 10 years had I not been given misinformation The medical records would have been there I could have also went to an SSA doctor to confirm The doctor’s findings but because it has been 17 years going on 18 years I am being screwed over and no one is correcting this problem The medical records I did have I submitted and the judge gave little credit to at what point does a licensed train medical professionals records become invalid The judge basically said that my testimony and my doctors were liars how can you do that so here I am with a $900 power bill no money and sold everything I own a value I applied for SSI and was denied because of a piece of property that I cannot legally sell because the deed is not in my name when I spoke to two SSA employees one at the Spartanburg SC office who said she was a supervisor her advice was hiring attorney when I called the 800 number asked to speak to an SSI expert she said she was and to hire an attorney she knows nothing about deeds of property and that we can’t just exclude property and according to the POMS manual if you legally cannot sell or liquidate resources then it is not considered has a resource I am so tired of getting the runaround no one is willing to help and everyone I talk to could care less

The lost medical evidence and lost medical records are actually done on purpose as you are targeted by the SSA when you’re interested in their services, benefits and else. They use threats, bribes and anything else to hide and make paperwork disappear. It’s to save them money, they actually don’t want anymore people on these programs, they were the number one contributors to the novel coronavirus/covid vaccines, meaning they put up the money for those shots

You are responsible to keep your own medical records especially since you believe you have an action pending. SSA will send you to a consultative doctor and pay for it. How could anyone say you had property if your name is not on the deed, makes no sense. Most of the comments before yours sound deranged. Don’t join them in their paranoia. I wish you all the best.

Be careful that you don’t blame the victim. I’m betting there is a whole lot more merit to Timothy’s complaint than most recognize.
Unfortunately, SSA does not advocate for you when it comes to filing claims. Once denied, most claimants are well-advised to get legal assistance with the appeals process.
Under the present system the rate of denials and the need for legal assistance is so great that I think SSA should have to pay its clients’ legal fees when appeals are won. If this were to happen, the whole character of the agency would likely change for the better.
It’s not always practical to keep medical records. Many that become disabled lose everything they own and they are lucky to stay fed and keep a roof over their head.
Titles to land and your right to sell can become pretty murky when land is inherited by multiple parties such as family members. The property may not be saleable at this time. SSI can also be applied for and possibly received while you try to sell but if the property is currently not saleable, I believe that is the better avenue to pursue. Getting legal assistance with the appeal would probably be wise.

I’ve always referred to my (age-related) Social Security (the one I contributed to from every paycheck) as SSI . I recently found out SSI also refers to another benefit that is based on income (like reduced phone or internet bills). I think a lot of seniors may be confused about this, and you should send out a clarification about the two types of Social Security.

Thanks – does this mean that if one does not have enough credits but has virtually no income they may qualify for SSSI? How about a single woman no SS credits age 58, divorced left her with little assets but she had no work credits for SS disability and she is disabled. Does she qualify for SSSI? No underage children living with her either. No one lives with her…

It’s possible the woman could be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) if her income is limited and her assets are worth less than $2,000. A disabled adult must be unable to work because of a condition that is expected to last at least 12 months or to end in death.
