Beginning today, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will issue Economic Impact Payments (EIP) to approximately 1.4 million SSI recipients with representative payees and 10.4 million Social Security beneficiaries with representative payees.

The IRS will issue the EIPs via direct deposit and Direct Express starting today, May 22, to the same direct deposit account or Direct Express card as the recipient’s monthly Social Security or SSI payment. Paper check EIPs will be mailed starting May 27.

Visit our website to learn about EIPs and representative payees. You can find the eligibility requirements and other information about the EIPs at the IRS’ Economic Impact Payment Information Center.

I am the payee for my adult son social security disability check. his funds goes directly into a social security direct express card, thus far no stimulus check has been deposited on his card. what do i do now

Hi Martha, thanks for using our blog. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), not Social Security, issues the Economic Income Payments. Social Security cannot answer EIP questions about your specific situation. Check out our Social Security and Coronavirus web page for more details. We hope this helps.

Due to Covid this year I don’t make the money I did in 2019, is there anyway I can get them to reconsider my 2021 Medicare Part B payment? This will go into effect 2/1/2021 and I hardly made any money in 2020 due to covid.

I’m getting ready to file my representative payee report for my father’s account this year. In section 3- the total accountable amount includes the SS benefits received as well as the carry over from last year, but does NOT include the COVID stimulus check that was also direct deposited into his account. How do I account for that money on the report?

    • Vonda

Hi Eileen, thanks for using our blog. Because an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) is not a Social Security or SSI benefit, representative payees are not required to account for the EIP when they complete their annual accounting form. Check out our Social Security and Coronavirus web page for additional details.

Social Security has Deducted Medicare from my monthly payments . Then kept the money and cancelled my Medicare. Proof is in my payment history. Now during this Pandemic I have no insurance. Local office has refused to fix it after saying they will during every phone call.
After many complaints I I mysteriously receive a refund check for one month. When Medicare was deducted every month.

    Please assist ASAP
