Update on Economic Impact Payments for Social Security and SSI Beneficiaries

Beginning today, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will issue Economic Impact Payments (EIP) to approximately 1.4 million SSI recipients with representative payees and 10.4 million Social Security beneficiaries with representative payees.
The IRS will issue the EIPs via direct deposit and Direct Express starting today, May 22, to the same direct deposit account or Direct Express card as the recipient’s monthly Social Security or SSI payment. Paper check EIPs will be mailed starting May 27.

How can I talk to the IRS from Mexico? You cannot use a toll free number from here. I wrote my state Senator and am having him investigate what is happening with the IRS. People you can not use the “Get my payment ” app from outside the U.S. THe IRS has blocked it. It is like the “My social security” app. For security reasons and getting hacked you can’t use it. We are all in the same fix. Maybe the Dems used our stimulus money as they did with our social security money to pay for a worthless impeachment. No one cares about use anymore.

Stimulus checks were for the American economy in America only to stimulate America, not Mexico or brazil or spain or anywhere else outside America ! It wasn’t for you to spend in Mexico or just for YOU ! And it aint the dems or Republicans your in a foreign country its you ! You should have read in between the lines it clearly stated FOR THE AMERICAN ECONOMY ONLY. To jump start it to keep America moving onwards not Mexico your never going to get it.

I was one of the unlucky people that did not receive a stimulus payment at all and the reason being that my daughter claimed me as a dependent on her taxes. However, my question is: what does being a dependent on her taxes have to do with my own expenses, especially since I only get $16 in food stamps and pay loads of money in medications???Very unfair I say.

My ex-husband is a SSI Medicaid nursing home resident. He receives a monthly personal allotment. Will his EIP be direct deposited in his SSI personal allotment account? As of this date 7/2/20, his EIP has not been received in any form. How can we check on the disposition of his EIP?

Will the Economic Impact payment count as part of the $2000 maximum that a person on SSI is able to have at one time? Is there a time limit to spend that money the way there is for SSI back payments?

I am an American citizen that receives SS retirement payments directly deposited to my local bank in the Dominican republic.
I noticed that I had not received the stimulus payment as of 6/30/20.
After some investigating I found out that the IRS does not make direct deposit to foreign banks and that is the reason why I have not received the EIP.
This information is very crucial for senior citizens living overseas who were waiting for the payment to be directly deposited. There are many of us who need to know this. It has taken me about 3 weeks to investigate this situation and find out what other steps I needed to take to remedy this situation.
