Two people walking up the stairs in a school settingThe Social Security Administration (SSA) is celebrating the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill, a landmark piece of legislation that delivers long-awaited tax relief to millions of older Americans.

The bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, providing meaningful and immediate relief to seniors who have spent a lifetime contributing to our nation’s economy.

“This is a historic step forward for America’s seniors,” said Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano. “For nearly 90 years, Social Security has been a cornerstone of economic security for older Americans. By significantly reducing the tax burden on benefits, this legislation reaffirms President Trump’s promise to protect Social Security and helps ensure that seniors can better enjoy the retirement they’ve earned.”

The new law includes a provision that eliminates federal income taxes on Social Security benefits for most beneficiaries, providing relief to individuals and couples. It does so by providing an enhanced deduction for taxpayers aged 65 and older, ensuring that retirees can keep more of what they earned.

Social Security remains committed to providing timely, accurate information to the public and will continue working closely with federal partners to ensure beneficiaries understand how this legislation may affect them.

This is absolutely disgraceful. The Social Security administration is not supposed to be political. Also, the big beautiful bill is moving us much closer to insolvency for the Social Security fund. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I got this in my email today. So my tax dollars are being used to send out blatant propaganda from an official government agency. This is unacceptable. How about using some of that money to improve customer service so people aren’t waiting hours on the phone for help.

Has the trump criminal regime noticed the uniform negative response of all commenters to this post?

The regime is probably pleased because it achieved its goal to more precisely identify their senior enemies. I expect the retribution will be severe.

This a said day because SSA has become another captive propaganda organ of the current and future autocratic regime.

If SSA is so easily willing to act as a corrupt mouthpiece for our dear leader, please imagine what they will do to your blessed SSA in the future.

Whatever person, or group of people, in the SSA that is responsible for spreading this disinformation regarding the non-existent federal tax exemption on SS needs to be FIRED TODAY!!!

Does this effect those that had to take early retirement for whatever reason?

What was stated in this article is an outright lie. NOBODY is getting Federal Tax exemption on the SS income. Instead, the bill provides for a TEMPORARY deduction for SS. Unbelievable that the SS Administration is just parroting partisan lies instead of giving us the stone cold facts.

I spent my entire Federal career with the Social Security Administration. That was over 35 years. We prided ourselves on being non-political and non-partisan. Our role was to administer the various titles of the Social Security Act. I am appalled at this email announcement. Aside from the inaccuracies it puts forth, it is just plain inappropriate. I know nothing about the current Commissioner of Social Security. From what I see so far, he is just some political hack with no experience and precious little knowledge. We can certainly do better than this.

I’m confused. Everything I’m hearing is the new bill does not address SS. Where can we get specific details about if/how this new bill affects SS if not here? Help!
