" "We’re happy to announce that we’ve added South Carolina, Kansas, Tennessee, Alaska, Hawaii, and North Carolina to the growing list of areas where you can request a replacement Social Security card online. We now cover 40 states and the District of Columbia, and 86 percent of the U.S population may be eligible to use this service. So far, 2.3 million people have replaced their card by going online.

You’ll also need to meet certain requirements to get an online replacement card. You must be a U. S. citizen age 18 or older with a U.S. mailing address, cannot be requesting a name change or any other change to your card, and must have a driver’s license or state-issued identification card from a participating state. Keep in mind that, even if you lost your card, you may not need a replacement. In most cases, simply knowing your Social Security number is enough. If you do need a replacement, we make it easy.
