Keeping your address up to date with a my Social Security account helps us mail your important documents to the correct place. If you receive benefits, you can use my Social Security to update your address. If you’ve moved recently, updating your information sooner rather than later will help us deliver important documents to you, including:
- Your Social Security Benefit Statement (SSA-1099);
- Important notices; and
- Your Medicare card when you first enroll or if you need a replacement.
Even if you get your benefits by direct deposit, Social Security must have your correct address so we can send letters and other important information to you.
If you don’t have a my Social Security account already, you can open one today. This is the easiest way for you to keep your information up to date. Within minutes you’ll have access to your personal information as well as control over important documents like your Benefit Statement (SSA-1099), which can be replaced if you lose it.
While you’re there, you can also check to see if your earnings record is correct. Social Security keeps a record of how much you’ve made so that you get the benefits you deserve. We can only pay you your correct benefit if your records are correct.
Putting you in control of your future is a key part of securing today and tomorrow, and having your correct mailing address helps us get important documents and payments to you. With my Social Security, we help you receive the information you need, when you need it. Open or access your safe and secure account today.

I need to have more taxes taken out. Who do I call?
A.C.
Hi. In order to have taxes withheld from your Social Security benefit, you must start by printing, completing and submitting an IRS Voluntary Withholding Request Form (Form W-4V). On this form, you can choose to have 7, 10, 12, or 22 percent of your monthly benefit withheld. The Form W-4V (to withhold federal taxes from your Social Security benefits) can be returned to your local Social Security office by mail or in person. See our Benefits Planner: Withholding Income Tax From Your Social Security Benefits web page for more information. Thanks!

What is the best way to get the increase of my 2017 and also 2018 increase?
I started my social Security at full age in 2016 and continuously working since than. I contact them at-least 10 time and they keep saying, we are still working!!!
Can you guide me and help to get my increase of 2017 and 2018?
A.C.
Hi, Shrenik. Each year, we review the records for all working Social Security recipients to see if additional earnings may increase monthly benefits. To learn more read our publication “How Work Affects Your Benefits”. If you have any additional questions about your record, you can call us at 1-800-772-1213, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., for assistance. Generally, you will have a shorter wait if you call later in the day. You can also contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

age 56 year ,my disabilyty is spondylopathy, my case denied, BNC 18D1785J94890, ,Why…
A.C.
Hi, Stanislaw. For your security, we do not have access to private information in this venue. For questions about your specific case, please contact your local Social Security office. Social Security pays disability benefits to people if they have a medical condition that has prevented them from working or is expected to prevent them from working for at least 12 months. We use the same five-step process to make a decision on each application. You may also find our listing of impairments useful.
If you disagree with the decision, you can file an appeal. There are four levels in the appeals process. A reconsideration is the first level. Typically, the length of time it takes to receive a decision on a reconsideration is about 60 days but the amount of time could vary from case-to-case. We reevaluate all evidence, plus any additional evidence submitted and make a new decision. If you disagree with the reconsidered decision, they can choose to go to the next level of the appeals process. We hope this helps.
