Social Security Administration LogoThis year we celebrate 37 years of Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) to honor the dedicated people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees. I have joined 73 other federal officials as a co-chair to this year’s PSRW letter. Please know that we are committed to helping you.

Its tough trying to figure out who is the real SS ?? I get two sets of every letter. I finally can tell who is the true SS by the wrong outdated info on the LETTER.My info was taken from the EMPLOYMENT DIVISION ON their computers while doing the orientation. Way back in 2014 Oct. They use my old contact info and type my name the way I signed Sysco or any invoice just my first letter of my name and then my last name. I would never sign a doc.of importance that way. So I believe after 28 years same job I was let go then my taxes were changed and then sent back through my turbo tax that I efiled and have the bank statement to prove it,also sent in a different time zone, now they can Chang my info through my bank?!? So please when I try to get any help on line with tax info my SS isn’t recognized at all My google,Microsoft ,.gov accounts have to be reset, twitter and Instagram accounts already in my name, passwords always changed,my google map shows me everywhere ! Off the coast of Cuba?? All across the states! My water bill comes from a different state that I have never been to. So trust me, I’m also tired of these scammer / fraudulent jerks! I don’t know who’s who and its scary. You try to call and three hours later the best help I could get was to cancel my SS account because they can go through it to get my SS card!?! Wow this is so messed up. Good luck!

Hi, Brenda. We are sorry to hear you are having this problem. Victims of identity theft should go to http://www.idtheft.gov and report the theft to the Federal Trade Commission or call 1-877-IDTHEFT (1-877-438-4338). If you suspect that someone is using you Social Security number, you can also find information by reading our publication, Identity Theft and Your Social Security Number. We hope this helps.

How do you explain that a S.S.A. Employee disregarded a Federal Civil Service Retiree’s Exemption Reduction Authorized Letter and reduced the Monthly Benefits Payments Anyway by over $201 per month for over the past 25 years and that I was told that it would take an act of US Congress to pass a bill in order for Him to get His Full Monthly Benefits Payment not to mention that the SSA owes Him over $60,000 in back pay that should have never happened let alone nobody wants to take responsibility for the situation and take action and rectify this unjustifiable treatment of a person that served in the Military and sacrificed His Life and Protected His Country for years and He is still waiting for Someone that has the Ability and Authority to pass a bill by Our Elected Officials in Washington to make it right and see to it that He is as a Veteran of the Armed Forces is treated with respect and reimbursed for the amount that They unlawfully deducted from His Monthly Benefits Payment I have been trying to get several of our So Called Elected Washington Representatives to help with the situation and sponsor a bill to right a wrong and they still haven’t done anything about it for over 6 or 7 years now and I don’t think that it’s right to ignore this situation because of some SSA employee that was jealous of the individual and illegally took upon themselves and reduced the amount that was promised to be paid the full amount of their monthly benefits payments So what are you going to do about this atrocity and look into the situation and then make it right to the Retiree that is owed to be reimbursed for all of the lost income for all of these years Waiting for your reply and investigation and your action to this injustice is needed ASAP

I do appreciate the thank you but would prefer that WEP and GPO were repealed. It would be very helpful if I received ALL the Social Security I have earned.

    • Paul

      Yes, please repeal…

  9. David M.

A great way to honor those of us who worked for the public good in education and emergency/health services would be to eliminate the WEP and GPO which penalize us for being teachers, police officers, emergency medical workers and others who will see there small retirements reduced to poverty levels.
    Thank you

    • Stan

All you will ever get from these people
(SSA) is lip service, ie; oh were very sorry to hear that you sleep in a tent and can’t feed your baby because we’ve taken most or all of your social security benefits due to our change in rules to break the promise that if you pay into SSA for decades you will get something back, Oops so sorry SSA needs it more than you do,,,you can go to this blog or that site and we won’t listen anyway. Boo boo,,
Take a look at the catastrophic unbelievable numbers of suicides in this country. I mean thousands of them. Look at the rows and rows of tents on our streets in every city and town these days. Can’t get they’re SSBs like they were promised? Yeah likely. Do they care? Not even a little. Just Saying
