man on laptop We’re with you through life’s journey, putting you in control of your finances and future. Social Security has made requesting or replacing your annual Benefit Statement even easier. The Benefit Statement is also known as the SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S. Now you have the ability to download it anytime and anywhere you want using our online services. There’s no need to visit a field office.

An SSA-1099 is a tax form Social Security mails each year in January to people who receive Social Security benefits. It shows the total amount of benefits you received from Social Security in the previous year so you know how much Social Security income to report to IRS on your tax return.

If you currently live in the United States and you need a replacement form SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, simply go online and request an instant, printable replacement form with a personal my Social Security account.

A replacement SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S is typically available for the previous tax year after February 1.

If you already have a personal my Social Security account, you should access your online account and go to “Replacements Documents” to view and print your SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can save the document on your computer or laptop and email it. If you don’t have a personal my Social Security account, creating a secure account is very easy to do and usually takes less than 15 minutes.

If you’re a noncitizen who lives outside of the United States and you received or repaid Social Security benefits last year, we will send you form SSA-1042S instead. The forms SSA-1099 and SSA-1042S are not available for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Securing today and tomorrow isn’t always easy, but Social Security continues to improve our customer service with easy to use online features. Visit our website for more information.

I need to make an appointment at the Anderson location. What is the phone number there so I can make the appointment

    • R.F.

Hello Sharon. To make an appointment, you will need to call our toll free number at 1-800-772-1213. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Generally you will experience a shorter wait time if you call later during the day or later in the week.
Remember, most Social Security services do not require a visit to a local office. Many services, including applying for retirement, disability or Medicare benefits, signing up for direct deposit, replacing a Medicare card, obtaining a proof of income letter or informing us of a change of address or telephone number are conveniently available at our website. Thanks!

Has the SSA-4926-SM statement showing the 2019 Benefit Amount been mailed to Social Security recipients?

    • R.F.

Hello Betty. In December 2018, Social Security COLA notices will be available online to most beneficiaries in the Message Center of their my Social Security.
You will still receive your COLA notice by mail this year, but in the future you will be able to choose whether you receive your notice online instead of on paper. For more details about the new COLA, visit http://www.ssa.gov/cola. Thanks!

Cut the crap please, all I want to do is print my benefits award letter. Why Can’t you people think like we do and put all of the printable important documents in one place on the front page and highlighted for easy find and print.
Why do we have to read all of the other crap when we are in a hurry to provide the benefit award letter to any organization for “necessary” immediate help?

Why do you make the public play CHESS with our website to find the Social Security and or Social Security Disability Award letter ??

Please put the printable award letters on the front page so we don’t have to hunt for the damn thing.

    • R.F.

Thanks for your feedback, Dron. We appreciate your interest in this matter and thank you for using our Online Services.
We value your thoughts and will use your suggestions to explore how we can further improve the services we offer. Thanks again!

Once you create your account, scroll down to the Benefits and Payments section and choose “get benefit verification letter” where you can instantly view, print, or save your official letter.
