New Guidance about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments
Reading Time: 2 MinutesLast Updated: February 21, 2023
“The Treasury Department launched a new web tool allowing quick registration for Economic Impact Payments for eligible individuals who do not normally file a tax return, and also announced that it would begin making automatic payments. However, for some people receiving benefits from the Social Security Administration—specifically those who have dependent children under the age of 17—it is to their advantage to go to this portal to ensure they also get the $500 per dependent Economic Impact Payment. I encourage them to do this as soon as possible, and want to provide the following details:
People who receive Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability insurance benefits and who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019 and who have qualifying children under age 17 should now go to the IRS’s webpage to enter their information instead of waiting for their automatic $1,200 Economic Impact Payment. By taking proactive steps to enter information on the IRS website about them and their qualifying children, they will also receive the $500 per dependent child payment in addition to their $1,200 individual payment. If Social Security beneficiaries in this group do not provide their information to the IRS soon, they will have to wait to receive their $500 per qualifying child.
The same new guidance also applies to SSI recipients, especially those who have qualifying children under age 17. To receive the full amount of the Economic Impact Payments you and your family are eligible for, go to the IRS’s Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info page and provide information about yourself and your qualifying children.
Additionally, any new beneficiaries since January 1, 2020, of either Social Security or SSI benefits, who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, will also need to go to the IRS’s Non-Filers website to enter their information.
Lastly, for Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries who do not have qualifying children under age 17, you do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS as long as you received an SSA-1099 for 2019.
For SSI recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17, we continue to work closely with Treasury in our efforts to make these payments automatically. Please note that we will not consider Economic Impact Payments as income for SSI recipients.
The eligibility requirements and other information about the Economic Impact Payments can be found at the IRS’s Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments page. In addition, please continue to visit the IRS for the latest information.”

GOOD MORNING. GOD IS GOOD FOR BLESSING US WITH ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE. NOW, I ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT CHECKS ARE NOT COMING FOR THOSE ON SS BENEFITS UNTIL MAY BUT YOU FOOLS KEEP GETTING YOUR HOPES UP JUST TO BE DISAPPOINTED.
I HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN TO SOMEONE ON THE INSIDE OF SSA AND THEY SAID THE IRS HASNT EVEN STARTED LOOKING FOR SS BENEFICIARIES THAT ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE STIMULUS AND EVEN WHEN THEY DO ITS GOING TO TAKE WEEKS AND MONTHS TO EVEN SEND OUT DIRECT DEPOSITS SO AT THE EARLIEST WE ARE ALL LOOKING AT MAY – JUNE AS A REALISTIC TIME TABLE FOR WHEN WE SHALL RECEIVE ANY STIMULUS HELP AS THE DISABLED COMMUNITY.
NOW, STOP BEING CRY BABIES ABOUT IT AND STOP ASKING THE SSA REPS ON THIS BLOG QUESTIONS THAT THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY AVOIDING ANSWERING/BLATANTLY LYING ABOUTBECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS WAKE UP!
THE LORD SAYS FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD AND YOU ALL NEED TO LEARN HOW TO WORK A TELEPHONE AND TALK TO SOME HUMAN BEINGS WHO WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH OFF THE RECORD AND THE TRUTH IS ALL OF US ON SOCIAL SECURITY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT FOR OUR STIMULUS CHECKS FOR WEEKS AND PROBABLY MONTHS FOR MOST.
NOW, I UNDERSTAND ALOT OF YOU THINK YOU ARE TOO GOOD TO EAT CAT FOOD BUT EAT TUNA. ITS JUST FUNNY HOW PEOPLE JUDGE THINGS THEY NEVER HAVE TRIED AND LOOK DOWN THEIR NOSES EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THE FOOD PANTRIES ARE CLOSED DUE TO CORONA AND WE ALL HAVE TO MAKE ENDS MEET AS BEST AS WE CAN. BUT GOD BLESS THE YOUNG MAN WHO LEAVES FOOD AT THE LOBBY FOR ALL OF US. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Go suck a fat dick.

They had said that they would send payments to those who need it most and who are most economically affected first. They lied. As usual, the poor are asked to go to the end of the line and wait and be emotionally tortured while they have to wait and watch others in much better economic shape than themselves get their payments first. Why didn’t they just tell the the truth and tell us that the poorest of the poor will have to get in line and wait. You see, that is what really gets to me is that they have to be so two faced and dishonest, in order to appease the masses rather than just tell the truth.

GOD BLESS YOUR TRUSTING HEART BROTHER. OF COURSE THEY LIED. OF COURSE THE DISABLED WERE GOING TO BE THE GROUP THAT WOULD HAVE TO SUFFER THE BRUNT OF THIS CRISIS WHILE THE ABLE BODIED WOULD MAKE SURE THEY HAD EXTRA MONEY WHETHER THEY NEED IT OR NOT BECAUSE ALOT OF THESE PEOPLE DID NOT LOSE THEIR JOBS AND THEY ARENT DISABLED AND BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BECAUSE PEOPLE KNOW THEY CAN EXPLOIT THEIR DISABILITY FOR ECONOMIC GAIN.
OUR PROBLEM IS WE ARE LETTING A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE DESTROY OUR PLANET AND MAKE LIFE MISERABLE FOR MOST OF US JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE MORE MONEY. WE WILL LET THEM KILL US ALL OFF SO THEY CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. WE SIT BACK AND ACCEPT THEIR BLATANT LIES BECAUSE WE ACCEPT EVERYTHING ELSE THEY DO TO ABUSE US. BUT THE LORD SHALL PROVIDE. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Hi there. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits. Hope this helps.

Thank You!

Hi William, thank you for your question. Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients who do not have qualifying children under age 17 do not need to take any action with the IRS. You will automatically receive your $1,200 economic impact payment directly from the IRS. You should receive the automatic payments by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or by paper check, just as you would normally receive your Social Security benefits.
For those SSI and Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability insurance beneficiaries, with dependent children, who use Direct Express debit cards, additional information will be available soon regarding the steps to take on the IRS website when claiming children under 17.

My mother claimed me as a dependent for 2018 & 2019. Will I receive my own stimulus payment because I get my own my SSI and SSD. Or will I not qualify because I’ve been claimed?

I have been receiving SSI via Direct Deposit since 2009. Same bank and account number from day 1. I have no children except my pitbull lol. This is my only source of income and it is now April 28 still waiting just as you are. It’s difficult for me to understand why individuals like us haven’t received the funds. I don’t know where to begin to explain how difficult it is to live on one monthly payment that is less than $750. I wish you the best and hopefully you will get the funds asap. I’m sure I will be waiting as well..

My under age child normally get SS direct deposit check every 3rd wed of the month. yesterday was the date that stimulus check came through. Does that has affect on why i dont see her monthly SS check. It’s from her deceased father benefit. What do i have to do? Is this the why it’s delay?

Hi Vilay, thank you for using our blog. Please contact your bank or financial institution first. They may be able to determine if your direct deposit failed. If you still need to report a late, missing or stolen Social Security payment, call your local Social Security office. Please look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. You can also call us toll-free at 1-800-772-1213. Please be aware that our call wait times are longer than normal. We hope this information helps.

Our situation is a little different. My husband is disabled and gets ssdi. My daughter, who turned 18 in November, gets a small check b/c he is disabled. She will continue to get it until she graduates, if they ever get to graduate that is. Since she still gets her check, does that mean she will also get the economic impact payment? Or, will she not get it because she is over 17? Thanks.

who cares? cow

“danny” go troll elsewhere.
@mom in Kentucky,
I am pretty sure I’ve read that people between 18 and 24 won’t receive a stimulus payment? It didn’t apply to me so I didn’t read much into that, but that might not apply to people that receive some sort of ssi/ssdi..

Thank you, Diana.

My mom died last night, she was waiting for her check also. She just wanted to do grocery shopping and be able to put money aside for instacart drivers tips. She also wanted to have some pizza, which never really splurges on. That never happened.
Yes, she passed from coronavirus complications.
Our world, it fucking sucks.
Mom i.
I’m so very sorry. Sending prayers for you and yours.

Thank you. <3

so sorry for your loss ,,praying for you and your family

What does your mom passing away and waiting for her check have to do with one another? Nice to know you are doing something positive and or productive in Lieu of past tragic events and not posting on the IRS site about how you haven’t gotten you money yet… Sympathy or something… Last thing I’d care about is stimulus money if my mother died from complications from Corona virus…

My sincere condolences. May you and your family find comfort.
