Protecting your information is an important part of Social Security’s mission. You work hard and make a conscious effort to save and plan for retirement. Unfortunately, fraud and scams are a part of our current reality. Scammers try to stay a step ahead of us, but our cyber-security programs help us protect the information entrusted to us. Despite the techniques we use to thwart scams, we can’t do it alone. You can read Social Security’s joint press release with the Office of Inspector General about our new nationwide Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign. This new PSA campaign addresses these telephone impersonation schemes in a series of video and audio ads. Watch the video above and learn how you can help us protect your information.

Also, earlier this month, we teamed up with the Federal Trade Commission for a Facebook Live event to discuss more consumer protection tips. If you missed this very important session, you can find it on our Facebook page.

Just passing this along as I received 2 calls within an hour from (214) 304-2059 with the following automated voice message:

“Suspension notice we have received against your social security number by the Federal Crime and Investigation Department. We need to talk to you as soon as possible. Again this call is from social security administration. The number to reach department is 214-304-2059. I repeat it’s 214-304-2059. Thank You.”

I have blocked this number and messages. DO NOT CALL this number and give up any of your information. This is a scam. Period!!

I rec’d call today from 1-817-012-7602; did not answer, rec’d voice mail – “This call is from the Department of Social Security Administration. The reason you have been called from our department is to inform you that we just suspend your Social Security number because we found some suspicious activity so if you want to know about this case just press one thank you.” I know not to answer these calls. To be safe, I have changed passwords to many different accounts tonight! I logged into my SS account and everything looked good. Thank you!

One day after my 62nd birthday, I am being inundated with these calls from a different number each time. I listened to one and then hung up. They never leave a message.

  8. Nealette Z.

I just received one of these calls today – the phone # was 832-567-6161. I didn’t answer because I didn’t recognize the number but they did leave a message. Needless to say, I didn’t return their call!

  9. Cheryl V.

I’ve received numerous call that I have not answered but they leave a voice message that is clearly a robo call stating my SS# will be locked. The numbers are: 800-594-9779, 800-274-9610, 800-430-1378.

      And another 800-141-0743.
Very frustrating because you cannot block since they all come from different numbers.

201.754.0477 is the number for which a recording stated that a social security would be held due to fraud activities and claiming to be social security administration. Recording ask that 1 should be pressed to get more information.
    Florissant, Missouri 63034 Residence
Immediately, I hung up and blocked the number.
