Both of my parents died in 2019 and are no longer receiving SS benefits. I am the acting trustee of their Trust and had Power of Attorney signature authority of their affairs before they passed away. I am trying to get a copy of their SSA-1099 forms in order to pay taxes for the 2019 year. They did not have an account set up on-line. How do I get a copy of their 1099 to do their taxes?

Your representatives need people skills training !
What logical thinking person expects someone who just had open heart surgery and is in the hospital with breathing tubes down their throat to either come into a local office or call a local office in order to get a copy of their award letter????
Then tell me (spouse) that my legal power of attorney to act on her behalf is meaningless ! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised? I’ve never found the government to be interested in helping anyone except the government!!!!

I have reviewed my SSA pages and do not find where to get my Form 1099-SSA. Please provide info on where and how to get it. Does this mean I had no reportable SSA income in 2019? I got a lump sum payment on 12/31/19 for April – November.
