Same here. My ID and phone verification were never approved. I went to the local office before the shutdown, and they told me that the federal Social Security office had taken away their authority to access my account and verify my identity. Now I’m completely stuck.

Why do those that are on SSI cant change our address online? This is very inconvenient because there is usually a long wait. And would like to see more disability information for amputees as well as resources fpr any situation that arises and what to do if we are not financially able to cate for ourselves in fear of losing benefits?

I already filed for social security benefit and now I want to file for spousal benefit as my husband received his benefit a few months ago. I tried to file spousal benefit online, but there is no option available.

Is there a way to file for spousal benefit online if I already filed my own benefit without coming to the office?

    Thank you.

You cannot receive both your own benefit and a spouse benefit. You should receive the larger of the two.

No privatizing Social Security. It will rob us blind having to pay fees when we already worked for this and paid into it.

I agree, do not privitize Social Security. It’s just plain wrong. Funds would be there if we all paid our fair share, no matter how high the income is. And no more transferring Social Security funds to pay for some pet project. It never gets paid back! SS funds should not be part of the general fund and money already taken for other purposes should be paid back. And not all of us want or need an advantage plan, so pushing us toward them, rather than regular Social Security is wrong as well.

When trying to get into my social security account, after the QR code, the account won’t open (there is only a message that states “there are no matching passkeys saved in Passwords for “secure.login.gov” on my phone nor on my computer). When I established my online account in 2021, I would get an 8-digit security code whenever I signed in to my account. I don’t recall ever getting a passkey. I’ve really looked, but I can’t find any applicable online suggestions. I’m stumped. Thanks!

Same thing happened to me! I had been checking my status for years, including after I had the login.gov & ID.me. Now it says that my name doesn’t match, but it does. For yours, I’d recommend going to the Authenticator app that you use for SSA.gov and see if you can locate your passkey there.
