Social Security issued an update today about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments to certain groups of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries. Beneficiaries who have their regular monthly payments managed for them by another person, called a representative payee, will begin receiving their Economic Impact Payments from the IRS in late May.

Special rules apply to beneficiaries living in the U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In general, the tax authority in each territory, not the IRS, will pay the Economic Impact Payment to eligible residents based on information the IRS will provide to the territories. It is anticipated that beneficiaries in the territories could begin receiving their Economic Impact Payment in early June.

“The Social Security Administration has been working with the IRS to provide the necessary information about Social Security and SSI beneficiaries in order to automate and expedite their Economic Impact Payments,” said Andrew Saul, Commissioner of Social Security. “While millions of our beneficiaries have already received their Economic Impact Payments from the IRS, we continue to work hard for those beneficiaries who are awaiting their payment from the IRS.”

For additional information about payments to beneficiaries with representative payees, please visit our website.

For the territories, people should contact their local tax authority with questions about these payments. Please note their website may use the term “Economic Impact Payment” or “stimulus payment.”

The eligibility requirements and other information about the Economic Impact Payments can be found at the IRS’ Economic Impact Payment Information Center. In addition, please continue to visit the IRS Coronavirus web page for the latest information.

I just want to say, I can’t believe how incredibly rude your phone support still is. They answer the phone extremely rudely, and when the woman couldn’t answer our questions, she hung up. I am a supervisor for a federal agency, and I would take corrective action for someone acting that way. Unfortunately, she hung up before I could get her name. Unbelievable!

I’m attempting to assist my mother with setting up an online account; my mother was talking, not me. All attempts to create have said we need to call. When the women we spoke to couldn’t see why we’ve had problems, and we asked where to turn next, she was rude. When I complained, she hung up, wow!

Hi Diana. We are so sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered working with Social Security. If your mother continues to have issues and you have already called our help desk, she may need to visit her local office for assistance. A representative in the office will verify her identity and issue a letter containing an activation code. Your mother can use the activation code to complete the creation of her my Social Security account. Select “Finish Setting Up Your Account” and enter the information requested, including the account activation code. Unfortunately, the Social Security offices are currently closed to the public and she will need to wait until the offices reopen.

If you would like to submit a formal complaint, you can email our support team.

The Republicans screwed over more people again. What do you expect when they cut the IRS budget every year. The IRS has to layoff workers and freeze job openings.

The Republicans eliminated a bunch of IRS jobs when they told them to stop enforcing the Obamacare mandate. They haven’t even made plans to hired hundreds of new IRS employees to deal with the millions who have not received their stimulus money.

You know the Republicans are going to set a deadline to claim the Social Security and SSI stimulus check like they did with the SSI children stimulus benefits. You don’t claim it in time and you will lose it.

You will probably have to claim it in 2021 along with the Veterans who didn’t receive any stimulus check.

You are out of luck because the IRS non-filer website is for Social Security and SSI beneficiaries with dependent(s). They left you out in the cold for beneficiaries with no dependent(s). Good luck trying to get the stimulus check. Nobody can get through to the IRS customer service number.

      Nonsense.

The IRS had nothing to do with the failed Obamacare program.

If you have a calculator do the math. 140 million households trying to contact the IRS. It would require an unsustainable number of agents to handle such a volume of calls.

Take a couple of Benadryl, get some rest and quit trying to make this a political issue… because it is not one.

      • Peter

It is a political issues, come voting time it wont be trump i vote for, it bsme anybody else but him, and all his croonies are going out, and when its time for senator’s there going too, its called all new faces in and out with who there now, dems and repub. New faces in , it will be the the ones who care about less fortunate people

My representative payee for US Customs, the physicist with the same last name as I, has been released from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital liability for Buy American Provisions discrimination under 24USC225h. That leaves only Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to make Jeremy the most popular male baby name during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, to spare the stock market in mid-June, we are obligated to charge Mark Morgan, Acting Commissioner, for a 15% devaluation to afford the $2.5 trillion speed ticket for the $666 billion CARES Act coronavirus corticosteroid counterfeit, up to 50% to make China the richest nation, pursuant to the Marshall Lerner Condition under 19USC§4421, 22USC§5301 and the Revised estimates: effect of changes in rates of exchange and inflation Report of the (fat) Secretary-General A/74/585 of 11 December 2019.

In FY 19 Customs and Border Protection collected approximately $82.0 billion in duties, taxes, and other fees, including more than $71.9 billion in duties, a 59% increase over FY 2018. The Treasury monthly report assigns it to the Social Security Act in regards to the backlog at the Supreme Court, on the withholding on wages of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and other allegedly non-resident aliens under 26USC§1441 that needs to be repealed pursuant to Marbury v, Madison (1803). The economic incentive to withhold regular priced documents under common articles 26-29 of the Conventions Relating to the Status of Refugees and Stateless Persons of 1951 and 1954 has a $10 limit on such cruel and unusual travel documents under Art. I Sec. 9 Cl. 1 of the US Constitution.

Social Security is no longer declaring any suspicious payroll tax deficiencies in the 2020 Annual Report, before taking into consideration COVID-19 pandemic unemployment rate greater than 12% and preliminary 10% revenue decline estimate. Unpopular migration policy instantly caused zero revenue growth FY 17 & 18.

Taxes lawfully withheld from aliens working and/or paying taxes to the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security are not to be misappropriated by Customs to perpetuate the deportation trade, e.g. de-kulukization. Individual income and payroll tax revenues are assigned to the General Fund of the United States Treasury and Social Security Trust Funds respectively. The Office of Fiscal Policy wants to hear these taxes are immune from execution, levy, attachment, garnishment, or other legal process, or to the operation of any bankruptcy or insolvency law under 26USC§1441 by Sec. 207 of the Social Security Act under 42USC§407.

Rob Portman may never know the official country by country US international trade statistics or true customs revenues under the Swiss Formula for Unilateral Tariff Reduction (2007) upgrade from algebra to 0.97 industrialized and 0.999 developing nation calculus, for the first term of trade war in living history.

Uh, in case you don’t get the Bloomberg business channel….we live in a global economy. Many folks reside outside of the U.S. for a variety of reasons, but many also pay taxes, fly to and from the U.S., send money to their children and grandchildren. As for me, I will send my stimulus payment to my two sons who are both chefs and have not worked for over two months.

  8. David M.

I have been receiving Social Security payments via direct deposit for the past six years here in the Philippines. I am not required to file a tax return and I have no dependents. Although my bank here is the Philippines National Bank they have branch locations in the U.S. As of today May 18 I have not received a stimulus payment. Why?

I still haven’t received mine either!! And I desperately need it! And it’s so frustrating that you can’t talk to anyone for IRS! Funny that Trump is pushing American people to go to work, yet you can’t talk to a IRS agent due to the fact of the coronavirus! Something seems fishy!!
